Guest guest
Dear members, Some of the interesting aspects related to number 81 is given below: Abhinava Guptacharya in his Tantraloka describes the Mother as “AshtAshiti pada†which describes the number 81. So, Mother is visualized as Eternal Principle with 81 ardha matras (as per jayaradha’s commentary). Among the Shad (6) AdhvAs, the number of padas in Pada Adhva is 81. The Siva Stuthi which forms the Pada Adhva has 81 padas. “Om vyomavyapine vyomarupaya sarvavyapine sivaya ananthaya anathaya anasritaya dhruvaya sasvataya yogapitasamsthitaya nityayogine dhyanaharaya om namah sivaya sarvaprabhave sivaya ishanamurdhaya tatpurushavaktraya aghorahridayaya vamadevaguhyaya sadyojatamurthaye om namo namah guhyatiguhyaya goptre anidhnaya sarvavidyadhipaya sarvayogadhipataye jyotirupaya parameswaraparaya achetanachetana vyoman vyoman vyapin vyapin arupin arupin prathama prathama tejastejah jyotirjyotih arupa anagne adhama abhasma anade nanana dhu dhu dhu om bhuh om bhuvah om svah anidhana nidhana nidhanodbhava siva sarva paramatman maheswara mahadeva satbhaveswara mahateja yogadhipate muncha muncha pramatha pramatha sarva sarva bhava bhava bhavodbhava bhavodbhava sarvabhutasukhaprada sarvasannidhyakara brahmavishnurudrapara anarchita anarchita asanskruta asanskruta purvasthitha purvasthithaa sakshin sakshin turo turo patanga patanga pinga pinga jnana jnana sabda sabda sukshma sukshma sivah siva sarva sarva sarvada om namo namah sivaya om namo namah†This is the vishishta siva mantra having 81 padas. The pancha brahma mantras of Siva (Isana, Tatpurusha, Aghora, Vamadeva, Sadyojata) have 81 mantras. Isana sarva vidyanam iswara sarva bhutanam brahma adhipitih brahmanah adhipatih brahma siva me astu sada sivah om ………..(17) Tatpurushaya vidmahe maha devaya dhimahi tat nah rudrah prachodayat ……(9) Aghorebhyah atha ghorebhyah ghora ghorararebhyah sarvatah sarva sarvebhyo namah te astu rudra rupebhyah ………(13) Vama devaya namah jyestaya namah rudraya namah kalaya namah kala vikaranaya namah bala vikaranaya namah balah pramathanaya namah sarva bhuta damanaya namah manah unmanaya namah …………..(25) Sadyah jatam prapadyami sadya jataya vain amah namah bhave abhave na atibhave bhavasva maam bhava udbhavaya namah ………..(17) So, 17+9+13+25+17 = 81. The shadanga nyasas including Siva sankalpa, uttaranarayana mantra becomes 81 mantras With regards, Sriram Did you know? You can CHAT without downloading messenger. It is the central mantra of the Siddhanta tantras. In certain trika traditions it is seat of the three Devi-s Para, Parapara and Apara. Based on this 9*9 form the 9 Avaranas which are commented upon in the commentary of Bhatta Ramakantha the Kashmiri Saiddhantika Acharya.
