Guest guest
Dear members, Given below are the 108 shaktha pitas that are spread around in India. Though there is a slight patha bheda in 108 (ashtottara shaktha pitas), this patha is supposed to be somewhat near to the research and findings of some of the scholars. There is also a controversy among the scholars regarding the Shaktha Pita in Srisaila. Some are of the view that the Devi is NOT BHRAMARAMBIKA BUT IT IS MADHAVI and Devi at Prayaga is Sri Lalitha. This list says that the Devi is Madhavi in Srisailam. Now, there are 2 Srisailams. One is in Andhra and other is in Assam by name Sriihattam and it is also called Srisailam. However, I have asked some of the advanced upasakas in Andhra Pradesh. They are of the view that it is Devi Madhavi that sports in Srisailam of Andhra Pradesh alongwith Mallikarjuna. But I donot know the authenticity of their findings. It is interesting to find that at the end of the Ashottaranama, the last name is OM SARVASARIRINAAM CHITTE BRAHMAKALAANAAMNYAI SAKTHAYE NAMAH. Among all the shaktha pitas, the original shaktha pita is the CHIT SHAKTI (Brahma Kala) which sports in Dahara Akasa or Chidakasa. Rests of the forms of Devi are just the emanations of this Chit Kala. While doing the parayana, OM is understood at the beginning and NAMAH at the end is understood. These 108 places are spread across different parts of India along with corresponding Shakti or Devi. Parayana of this gives one the bhavana or contemplation of 108 tirtha sthanas or pilgrim centres that sport with corresponding Devis.
