Guest guest
Dear diwakar, Sarabha Saluva is used for cures against visha jwaras, dikbandhana against abhicharika prayogas, atma raksha etc. Some of the wonderful upasakas of this cult are found in Vira Saiva Mutt at Srisailam Devasthanam. It is said that this prayoga can counter Nrisimha Mantra. But again Ashtamukha Gandabherunda Nrisimha can counter this Sarabha Prayoga. A upasaka of Pushpagiri pita has compiled Sarabheshwara Kalpa (this is in the form of manuscripts that have sarabha sahasranama, ashtottara, kavacha, mulamantra, mala mantra, hridaya, sarabha yantra archana paddhati) in telugu. I have the sahasranama part of it. But there are mistakes in names while writing the namavali. He has also the chatushshashti Yogini Puja Kalpa and Kalaratri Upasana Kalpa which is highly secret upasana paddhati in the Pitha and is performed in the pita during the saranavaratri which is performed during the midnight 12:00 clock. This kalaratri puja is also performed in Bhadrakali Temple at Warangal and in Jogulamba Temple at Alampur. The kalpoktha puja starts at midnight. It is interesting to note that this puja is done without Makara-panchaka at both the places. If i remember, Motilal Banarasi Das Publications had published Akasa Bhairava Tantra in Devanagari script. You can find Sarabha stotras in that Tantra. Guest guest
Dear diwakar, Sometime back you asked about the background of Bhadrakali Temple at Warangal. This is a short profile of that. In the heart of the twin cities of Warangal and Hanmakonda, in the midst of rocky hillocks, lies the abode of the family deity of the erstwhile Kakatiya rulers, THE BHADRAKALI TEMPLE. It is located at a distance of 1 km from the main city road. It stands on the raised ground level than the normal. Warangal is almost 140 kms away from Hyderabad. We could find many stories which depict the History of the Destination and vital role of Goddess Bhadrakali in the lives of the legendary rulers " THE KAKATIYA DYNASTY " . History depicts that this Hanamkonda Region was once very fertile region with perennial Godavari flowing at the north. It was inhabited by rishis and sages as it had abundant natural wealth. It is believed that Lord Rama during his exile wandered in these forests to south of the Godavari. Sugriva and Hanuma of the Vanara Kingdom are also said to dwell in this region. Hence the name " Hanamkonda " . Lord Rama along with Hanuma is said to have worshipped Kali, the mother of the Universe. As she was worshipped by Ramabhadra himself and bestows Bhadras (wealth and prosperity) to the devotees, the presiding deity is called " Bhadrakali " . This temple was first built by Chalukya King Pulakesin the 2nd, in the 7th century A.D. The Diety is believed to be worshipped by this historic ruler Pulakesin – II of Chalukya Dynasty in the year 625 A.D after his win over the `Vengi' region of Andhra Desha. During the reign of Ganapati Deva, a patron by name Meesaraganda Hari, the son of minister Vithala constructed a water tank and also donated the surrounding land for the maintenance of the building. Since the Mother blessed the Kingdom with wealth and prosperity the Kakatiya rulers worshipped her as their family deity. There is also a tale, which depicts that Rani Rudramma Devi, daughter of Ganapathi Deva is a strong devotee to Kali. She used to visit this temple everyday before partaking meals. Foreign invasion concealed the glory of this temple for many years. Bhadrakali Deity, especially during the time of " Shakambhari Alankara " when she is decorated with all kinds of vegetables is an eye feast to the devotees. This alankara is done during " Ashada Shuddha Pournami " . Also the Navaratri festival is celebrated in grandeur. A wonderful Sriyantra is carved near the Deity and Navaavarana archana is carried out daily. A special worship is carried out daily called " NISHI PUJA " for which entry is restricted only to a few people (children are not allowed). This is a form of KALA RATRI PUJA that starts at midnight with 64 yogi avahana, tarpana, homa. Dakshina Kali worship is performed which is a feat to the eyes. The ritual is for about 2 hours.
