Guest guest
Dear devotees, Lalitha is described as brahma-,vishnu-, and rudhra- granthi vibedhini. Can the learned and experienced devotees expound on the nature, symbolism, and connection of granthis in sadhana? Guest guest
Dear gopi, There are 6 chakras namely muladhara, svadhishtana, manipura, anahata, vishuddhi and ajna. Above these, is the sahasrara chakra. The kundalini having coiled up three and half rounds with its head covered sleeps inside the bud of Muladhara chakra. Among these 6 chakras, there are 2 subtle knots called granthis at the begin and end of only in 3 chakras. There are 2 subtle knots or grandhis. One is above svadhishtana and other is below svadhishtana. These 2 knots alongwith Svadhishtana is called Brahma Grandhi. Similarly, Vishnu Grandhi consists of knots above anahata and below anahata. Similarly, Rudra Grandhi consists of knots above Ajna and below Ajna chakra. So, when the Kundalini rises up from Muladhara to Sahasrara, it pierces the 6 chakras by untying the 3 knots Brahma, Vishnu and Rudra respectively. Here grandhi bhedana implies " to enter " . The Srividya Mantra has 4 khandas viz., Vagbhava, Kamaraja, Sakthi and Turiya Khandas respectively. The 3 Hrims of the Mantra are the are the 3 Grandhis or Knots (Brahma, Vishnu, Rudra) in Pindanda. The 4th one which is Turiya is the 4th state of Jiva. While japa, these 3 hrims are to be placed in three knots. So, the Kundalini when performs Grandhi Bhedana ie.,when enters these Brahma, Vishnu and Rudra grandhi the following thing occurs: Brahma Grandhi consists of 2 chakras Muladhara and Svadhishtana which are of Prithivi and Jala Principle. Vishnu Grandhi consists of 2 chakras which are of Agni maya and Surya maya chakras which are of Fire Principle. Rudra Grandhi consist of 2 chakras which are of Air and Ether Principle. As the Kundalini enters each and every Knot, the control of respective gross elements are achieved (prithivi, jala, tejas, vayu, akasa). Brahma Grandhi represents Srishti Tattva. Vishnu Grandhi represents Jiva Tattva. Rudra Grandhi represents Laya Tattva. Kundalini entering these 3 subtle knots enters into the 4th state called Turiya Khanda. It makes the Upasaka cross Srishti (rebirth), Jiva principle, Laya tattva and makes him enter at Sahasrara and bestows CHIDANANDA. This Chidananda is bestowed by the ascent of Kundalini at Sahasrara with the Amrita Rasa which is shown in the next name (SahasrAmbujArUDhA sudhAsArAbhivarshiNi). Guest guest
Dear subramanya, Namaste. The explanation which i gave is not " my intelligence " . It is already there in Saubhagyabhaskara which is the kripa bhiksha of Shri Bhasuranandanatha. Regarding navachakras, there are three more subtle chakras between ajna and sahasrara. As regards the gayatri mudras, it has to be learnt from gurunatha. As such, in sandhya anushtana, where the Savritr is contemplated in Solar Orbit, these mudras are not necessary. But when Gayatri Devi, is worshipped from Sakta perspective, then one need to show the mudras. BTW, i donot show mudras during my sandhya anushtana because my grandfather did not teach me while teaching sandhya vandana. So, i have no authority to tell you about mudras. with regards, sriram , subramanya h c <subba_mce wrote: > > namaste sri ramji > > I am amazed to read into the explanation and i think some internally opened while reading these explanations. > > Thanks a lot. Guest guest
Respected Sriramji pl accept namaskaras. Thanks for your reply. Why I raised this question is Ethe mudra 24 gAytrya suprathishtatha, iti mudra na janAti, gAyatri niShPalaM BavEt. I have been doing all the mudras but I don't know the significance of these mudras. Can you guide me some book which explains this. I was also looking bhaskararaya bhashya for Lalitha sahasranama. Can you plese tell me where can I get it. With pranamas Subramanya sriram <sriram_sapthasathi Thursday, 2 October, 2008 12:24:05 PM Re: granthi-s and sadhana Dear subramanya, Namaste. The explanation which i gave is not " my intelligence " . Guest guest
Dear subramanya, Namaste. If you know the mudras of gayatri, you should do it. However, if one does not know it, there is nothing wrong in omitting the mudras. I have asked the same question to the acharya of sringeri. He said that the statement " nishphala bhavet " is just to show the importance of mudras which is an " arthavAda " . There is no sin in omitting that ritual. Moreover, the upAsya devata of Gayatri mantra is the SAVRITR TEJAS. While doing the gayatri japa, one should meditate on the Supreme Glory, Divine Splendour and Supreme Light of the SAVITR established in the Solar Orbit which inspires OUR INTELLECT. This Savitr Tejas or Brilliance in the form of Savitr Tejas when visualised as Shakti becomes the Divine Mother. So, mudra pradarshana is done when the Savitr Tejas is worshipped as Shakti. Most of the people while doing sandhya anushtana, omit the Sloka " yO dEvah savitA.....tat varENyam upAsmahE " which comes before the Gayatri Dhyana. This is the objective of the Sandhya which is also reflected in the mantra " asAvAdityO brahmA " . The object of meditation is the Brilliant Supreme Light amidst solar orbit. I worship the sandhya by visualising the Savitr Tejas in Solar Orbit and after the japa is over, the same brilliant light i visualise in my cavity of the heart. I have not been taught the Mudras by my grandfather who taught me sandhya. Since, you are doing it, please continue it. Mudras are the gestures that pleases (mudam) the Deity and hence they are called Mudras. Every Bija Mantra is presided by the Corresponding Deity and hence 24 mudras pleases the corresponding 24 dieties in Gayatri mantra. Regarding Saubhagya Bhaskara, what is your mother tongue. If you are conversant with Hindi, Chaukhamba Publications have published with Sanskrit Commentary and Hindi Translation. If you are telugu, Brahmasri Nori Bhogiswara Sarma (disciple of Brahmasri Tadepalli Raghavanarayana Sastrigal) had published. There are also couple of Books in Telugu 1) Saubhagya Bhaskara by Ponguru Suryanarayana Sarma 2) Saubhagya Bhaskara by Brahmasri Mokkavilli Brahma Avadhani of Amalapuram, EG Dist. AP. I don't know about other languages. But if you know sanskrit, go for original script by Chowkhamba Publications, Varanasi. Thanking you and with regards, sriram , subramanya h c <subba_mce wrote: > > Respected Sriramji > > pl accept namaskaras. > > Thanks for your reply.
