Guest guest
Dear members, Most of the people are under confusion that the yantra is the Sriyantra Meru Pratishta at the Mukha Mantapa before the Bhramarambika Sannidhi of Srisailam. Devotees are prohibited from prostrating before this Yantra and Devi Bhramarambika. This Yantra is the " Navadurga Yantra " which pacified the fierce form of Mahishamardini Rupa Chandi in the temple. The ancient vigraha is concealed with silver coverings. These silver coverings are removed once in a year at the time of Ugadi (telugu new year). When the ugra rupa devi is displayed, simultaneously the huge amount of curd rice and curd abhisheka to the Mallikarjuna Linga is performed to pacify the ugra-swarupa of Bhramarambika devi. Only on this day, animal sacrifice is performed and the blood is diverted into the " rudhira gunda " which is in the temple complex. Interesting thing is that this " Navadurga Yantra " was discovered by the Sankaracharya of Sringeri Sivaganga Mutt. His name is HH Gangadharendra Subramanya Bharati Swamigal who was a wonderful srividya upasaka apart from mantra siddhi of Medha Dakshinamurthy Mantra. Numerous are his lilas. Once when swamigal was holding chaturmasya diksha in Kasi, a vamachari wanted to test the swamigal. He performed chakra archana with makara-panchaka and offered the madya (wine) and mamsa (flesh) to the swamigal as bhiksha. Swamigal was performing the Sarada-Chandramoulishwara Puja. Through his anushtana bala of Dakshinamurthy, sensed the evil ways of Vamachari and asked the attendant to placed the covered bhiksha on the ground. Swamigal sprinkled mantra jala by chanting gayatri mantra and immediately the wine and flesh transformed into delicious seasonal fruits. sadAsiva samArambhAm vyAsa sankara madhyamAm asmad AchArya paryantAm vandE guru paramparAm....
