Guest guest
Dear members, The 4th sloka of Siva Kavacha says that dhyAnAvadhUtAkhila………shaDakSharanyAsasamAhitAtma shaivEna kuryAt kavachEna rakShAm which says that the parayana of siva kavacha should be done after taking the initiation of “siva panchakshari mantraâ€. The nyasas bijas of panchakshari are om, nam, mam, shim, vam, yam. The karanyasa and hridayAdi nyasas are performed with these bijas after due initiation of Panchakshari and the kavacha parayana is resumed. If one has the Panchakshari Mantra, then one can independently take up the parayana but the gurunatha should be informed prior to this. Mantras, bijas, upadesas via public forums, through private emails are a strict NO from my side. This is because personally I believe in the importance of gurunatha and guru parampara. Without guru parampara, the vidya is of no use (neither for iha nor for para) just like the vidya of Ekalavya of Mahabharata. Moreover, if a stotra is picked from forums and mails, one must be competent enough and learned in Sanskrit so as to check the printing devils. And hence, my gurunatha used to give utmost importance to “learning of Sanskrit†or “devabhashaâ€. Kanchi Mahaperiaval also used to give much importance in learning of Sanskrit. Some of the persons would quote the song “nahi nahi rakshati dukruNkaranE†of Acharya Sankara saying that at this age is it required. I would say “Yesâ€. Even at the age of 60, one can learn the Sanskrit and it is required to independently understand some of the wonderful shastras, its commentaries that are available in Sanskrit.
