Guest guest
Dear members, For the srividyopasaka, the nyasas form the important role in Sriyantra puja which also helps him to achieve the identification of the presiding deity. The word nysasa literally means “sthapana†or to place thereby the gross body which is by nature impure becomes energized with the corresponding nyasa, bija mantra and corresponding deity. The kriya shakti of the particular limb in the body is activated and energized by the nyasas. There are different types of nyasas. They are Matrika Nyasa, Mantra Nyasa, Devata Nyasa, Tattva Nyasa, Pitha Nyasa, Karanyasa, Anga Nyasa, Vyapaka Nyasa, Rishyadi Nyasa. Matrika nyasa is done with 16 vowels and 34 consonents; Mantra nyasa is done with the entire mantra one is initiated into again with single letter of the mantra again with entire mantra; Devata nyasa is performed by placing the presiding deity externally and internally with corresponding parivara devatas; tattva nyasa is done by taking into consideration the cause-effect principles. There are 36 principles from Siva to Prithivi. These 36 principles are also internally manifested in the jiva and the corresponding nyasa is made internally; This is also called Pitha Nyasa; Karanyasa is placing the bijas in the fingers and hands; Without touching the parts of the body, the mantra is placed on the Body which is called Vyapaka Nyasa. RishyAdi nyasa has 6 components called Rishi, Chandas, Devata, Bija, Shakti, Kilaka. For the Deity having 3 eyes, the Karanyasa has 6 components. For Hridaya nyasa : madhyama, anamika and tarjani fingers are used For Siro Nyasa : madhyama and tarjani are used For Shikha : Angushta is used For Kavacha : all the 10 fingers are used For Netra Nyasa : Tarjani, Madhyama and Anamika For Karatala Prishta : Tarjani and Madhyama fingers are used For Deity having 2 eyes, the Shadanga of Netra Nyasa is omitted ie., only 5 nyasas are performed. Since Rishi is the Guru swarupa who has handed down the Mantra, the Rishi Nyasa should be done by touching the Head; Since Chandas or Meter is the Matrika swarupa which is of the form of Vak, the Mouth is touched for Chando Nyasa and since the place of Devata in the Jiva is Hridaya or the Dahara Akasa, the Chest is touched while performing the Devata Nyasa. One should perform the Matrika Nyasa both Antar Matrika and Bahir Matrika Nyasa which is mandatory for a srividyopasaka without which there is no siddhi in Upasana. Then he should perform “samhara matrika nyasa†which is not mandatory but for “vishesha prayogasâ€. This Nyasa begins from where the Bahrir Matrika Nyasa ends. Some scholars are of the view that “Samhara Matrika Nyasa†is for Yatis. Then he should perform “Pitha Nyasaâ€. Pitha means the “Adhara†or “Baseâ€. Here Yoga Pitha Nyasa is also performed. Wonderful results are achieved by performing Pitha and Yoga Pitha Nyasa and mano laya is achieved and Mind can be turned inwards to the source by contemplating the Yoga Pitha Nyasa.
