Guest guest
Dear members, I was listening to this great composition “Kamakshi Sri Varalakshmi†which was composed by Shri Muttuswami Dikshitar in Bilahari Raga and thought of sharing my emotion to you all. When the great musician cum Saint Tyagaraja was in Kanchipuram to meet his gurunatha Shri Upanishad Brahmendra Saraswati, the Swamigal asks to sing a kriti before him. Gushes forth the kriti “tulasi dalasmu na†kriti before the swamigal. Impressed by the saint and composer, Shri Upanishad Brahman shows his composition called “Rama AShtapadi†(in line with Ashtapadis of Jayadeva). Swamigal asks the Tyagaraja to fix the Raga and Tala of Rama Ashtapadi. Tyagaraja suggests the name of Shri Muttuswami Dikshitar . Shri Upanishad Brahman invites the Dikshitar to Kanchipuram. Now, it was a feast to the eyes and how wonderful it would have been to see all the three ie., Upanishad Brahmendra Saraswati, Shri Tyagaraja and Muttuswami Dikshitar on a single platform! Shri Swamigal asks the Dikshitar to fix the Raga and Tala of Rama Ashtapadi and Shri Dikshitar fixes them in Hindustani Classical Music. Also sings a wonderful melodious kriti on Kamakshi in Bilahari Raga. And that kriti is “Kamakshi Sri Varalakshmi….â€. kAnchipuranAyikAm hridi bhAvayE …… with regards, sriram Unlimited freedom, unlimited storage.
