This English translation is just my notes that I took down by translating from Telugu. SIVA MANASA PUJA Anuchita mapalapitam mE Tvai nanu shambho! tadAgasah shAntyai archAM kathamapi vihitA mangIkuru sarvamangaLopEta (O Siva! I have uttered several words that should not have been uttered. To ward off the sins that I have committed by me, I am performing this Puja. Yourself alongwith auspicious Parvati, grace me by receiving my worship) dhyAyAmi katha miva tvAm dhIvarmavidUradivyamahimAnam AvAhanam vibho stE dEvAgrya ! bhavEt prabho ! kutah sthAnAt (O foremost among Gods! You stand beyond the reach of Mind and Intellect. How can I meditate? You are omnipresent. Which place shall I offer to you for Avahana) kiyadAsanam prakalpyam? kritAsana syEha sarvato(a)pi shiva ! pAdyam kuto(a)rghya mapivA(a)(a) pAdhyam sarvatra pANipAdasya (O Siva! All the worlds are your Asana. Hence, how can I offer the Pitha. You have thousand feet and hands. How can I offer Arghya and Padya) Achamanam tE syAdai Bhagavan ! bhava ! sarvatomukhasya katham? Madhuparko vA kathamiha madhuvairiNi darshita prasAdasya (O Siva! Your face is spread in all directions and hence how can I offer Achamana? You have graced the Madhuvairi (Vishnu) and hence how can I offer Madhuparka) snAnEna kim vidhEyam? salilakritE nEha nityashuddhasya vastrENapi na kAryam dEvAdhipatE ! digambarasyEha (O Siva! You are ever drenched with the Ganga Water and hence how can I bath you with Shuddodaka. All the 8 directions are your clothes and hence how can I offer the Vastra) sphurati hi sarpAbharaNam sarvAngE sarvamangaLAkAra ! ativarNAshramiNa stE(a) styupavIE nEha kastvi dutkarShah? (O Siva! What will you do with ornaments when you are shining with snakes around your body. You have transcended Varnashrama dharma and hence what will you do with the Yajnopavita, the sacred thread) gandhavatI hi tanustE gandhAh kim nEsha ! paunaruktAya puShkalaphaladAtAram puShkarakusumEna pUjayE kim tvAm? (O Siva! You body itself gives off sweet scent and odour (the second meaning is that since earth (bhumi) is the form of Siva and since gandha (odour) is the tanmatra which is Siva), of what use is applying the Sandal Paste. You confer the fruits of Karma, what fruit can I offer) shamadhanamUladhanam tvam sakalEshwara ! bhavasi dhUpitah kEna ? dIpah katham shikhAvAn dIpyEta purah svayamprakAshasya (O Siva! Shama, dama and other disciplines are your possessions as riches, in what form shall I light the incense sticks; you are self-luminous and self-effulgent, in what form shall I show the Lamp to you) amritAtmaka mapi bhagava nnashanam kim nAma nityatriptasya tva yyAmrEDita mEtat tAmbUlam yadiha sumukharAgE(a)pi (O Siva! You are nitya tripta or ever satisfied so in what form shall I offer the Naivedya. Endowed with compassion, love towards your devotees, your lips have turned red and hence what form of Tambula shall I offer) upachArIbhUyA dida mumEsha ! yasmE vichEShTita mashESham nIrAjayAmi tam imam nAnAtmAnam sadAkhilaih karaNaih //10// (O Siva! Whatever I do, let it be the upacharas to you.
