SRI KATHAYEE AMMAN

Near Kumbakonam in Tanjore District there is a village

called " SITHAADI " . It lies between Kumbakonam – Nannilam Bus route

near PILAVADI. Sri Kathayee Amman, a family deity and Ishta Devata

of thousands of people, resides in a small temple on the banks of

the river Mudikondan in SITHAADI Village. It is an ancient temple

which came into being hundreds of years ago. The statue of Sri

Kathayee Amman was found in the Mudikondan river by a priest of that

temple, which was identified as Sri Kathayee Amman by herself. Sri

Kathayee Amman is said to be incornation of " VALLI " , wife of Lord

Muruga. This famous ancient temple was completely renovated and

KUMBABISHEKAM was performed in April 2006 by Sri Kathayee Amman

Baktha Jana Trust.

Since 2001, the Trust is performing various festivals in the temple.

Chandi Homam followed by Laksharchana is perfomed every year during

THAI month. This year also (2009 THAI MONTH) Chandi Homam and

Laksharchana are going to be perfomed from 6.2.2009 to 8.2.2009. All

Devotees and Bakthas are requested to attend the function. Those who

want to contribute their might can send the same through Money
