Guest guest
aghora nR^isiMha is a composite form of shiva and viShNu even as nR^isiMha itself shares many features of rudra/shiva. The following is a brief outline of the AvaraNa devata-s for the yantra of this composite devata. The aghora nR^isiMha mantra is a combination of the tAntric aghora-shiva mantra and the anuShTup mantra-rAja. Some interesting features are the various garuDa-s that come in the fifth AvaraNa and the aShTa bhairava-s. Worship of aShTa bairava-s also figure in the nR^isiMha pratIkAra bali vidhi. Apart from this, aghora-shiva mantra, shiva pa~nchAkShari, and the shiva chintAmaNi mantra are used along with mantrarAja, and sudarshana-ShaDakShari during the nR^isiMha bhasma snAna vidhi. These are supposed to be done by nR^isiMha upasaka-s, but the vaiShNava-s after the advent of rAmAnuja might have edited these out. Whatever be the case no one can wish away the similarities between these two. prathmAvR^iti: hR^idaya, shira, shikAdi devata-s dvitIya - avayava-s : brahma shirase namaH, viShNu kapAlAya namaH, rudramukhAya namaH, agni netrAya namaH, sUrya netrAya namaH, aghora jihvAya, kAlI hastAya, durgA hastAya, bhairava hR^idayAya, vIrabhadrodarAya vyAdhyekapAdAya, mR^itupAdAya etc..** tritIya:vAsudeva, sankarShana, aniruddhAdi mUrti-s turyAvR^iti:shakti-s like ilA, UrjA, vAni, lakShmI, shrI pa~nchamAvR^iti:shrIgaruDa, AshugaruDa, tArkShya garuDa,kShipra garuDa, svarNa garuDa, mR^ityu garuDa, ketu garuDa vR^ittavIthyAM prathama chaturasre:Ananta, takShaka, karkoTaka, mahApadmAdi nAgAH vR^itta dvitIya vIthyAM:asitA~Nga , ruru, krodha, unmatta, kapAla, bhIShaNa, samara bhairava-s vR^itta tritIya vIthyAM:dikpAlaka-s and Ayudha-s **Notice the similarity here with sharabheshvara where he is meditated as comprising various devata-s, with durga and kAlI(shUlini and pratya~Ngira alternately) as wings, bhairava as heart etc.
