What the three have in common is that they produce concrete results whether people beleive it or not. One will also note that a good number of tAntrika-s are schloars in jyotiSha and /or Ayurveda. One can keep options open without closing the doors on anything but dont blindly believe everything that a street astrologer says. Some astrologers are in teh habit of scaring people to extract money for remedies. Some texts say that pAshupata mantra can be used against ill positioning of planets. The nambudiri brahamana-s of Kerala, I was told deploy the shiva chintamani against any astrological ill luck. People usually follow austerities i.e. vrata-s etc and perform (through an archaka) things like ekadasha rudrAbhiShekaM to get over calamities.
