Guest guest
I stumbled upon an old manuscript on vishnu sahasranama which states a correction in the popular sloka  shrIrAma rAma rAmeti rame rAme manorame | sahasranAma tattulyaM rAma nAma varAnane |  People usually recite the word " tattulyam " which is the union of " tat + tulyam " which gives out the meaning " that equivalent to " . I don't know why " tat " has been used here.  However, the shuddha pATha of sahasranAma says that  " sahasranAmatah tulyam " ie., sahasranAma-tah-tulyam which gives out the meaning tulyam (equivalent) sahasranAmatah (with 1000 names of Lord Vishnu).  Also suggests a correct pATha of this sloka which runs as:  shrIrAma rAma rAmeti rame rAme manorame | sahasranAmatastulyaM rAma nAma varAnane |  tah+tulyam becomes tastulyam A food for thought...... regs, sriram Add more friends to your messenger and enjoy! Guest guest
shrI gurubhyo namaH shrI mahAganapataye namaH Depends on whether you are considering the 1000 names or the " laghu upaayam " in " kenopAyena laghunA vishNornAma sahasrakam paThyate paNditairnityam shroutumichAmyaham prabho " . - the Lord answers this question saying that chanting " shrI rAma rAma rAma " is equivalent to the method of chanting the 1000 names of Lord VishNu adopted by the pandits. Thanks. shrI mAtre namaH _____ On Behalf Of venkata sriram Saturday, February 07, 2009 7:15 AM shrIrAma rAma rAmeti..... Guest guest
Numerically " ra " in " ya-varga " holds 2nd position and " ma " in " pa- varga " holds 5th position. So, " rAmA " is 2 x 5 = 10. So, 3 times " rAmA " implies 10 x 10 x 10 which is 1000. Hence, rAmA rAmA rAmA = 1000 (also numerically equivalent to 1000 names ) regs, sriram , " Kumar Ramachandran " <kramach wrote: > > shrI gurubhyo namaH > shrI mahAganapataye namaH > > Depends on whether you are considering the 1000 names or the " laghu upaayam " > in > > " kenopAyena laghunA vishNornAma sahasrakam > paThyate paNditairnityam shroutumichAmyaham prabho " . > > > - the Lord answers this question saying that chanting " shrI rAma rAma rAma " > is equivalent to the method of chanting the 1000 names of Lord VishNu > adopted by the pandits. > > Thanks. > > shrI mAtre namaH > > _____ > > On Behalf Of > venkata sriram > Saturday, February 07, 2009 7:15 AM > > shrIrAma rAma rAmeti..... > > > > I stumbled upon an old manuscript on vishnu sahasranama which states a > correction in the popular sloka > > shrIrAma rAma rAmeti rame rAme manorame | > sahasranAma tattulyaM rAma nAma varAnane | > > People usually recite the word " tattulyam " which is the union of " tat + > tulyam " which gives out the meaning " that equivalent to " .
