Guest guest
Dear Sir/Madam, I recently visited a Shiva temple at Madavilagam, near cheyur (15 kms from Maduranthagam), Chennai, TamilNadu, India. The presiding deity is Lord Kaameshwara Shiva and this temple is in a very pathetic condition with bushes all around , bats flying and the Gopura Kalasam itself is not there. The temple urgently needs repair and renovation. The presiding deity of the temple Lord Kaameshwara, as the name implies, blesses childless couples with children. This temple has shrines for Lord Vinayaka , Lord Shiva, Ambaal known as Kokilambal, a big shrine for Vishnu ( in a Shiva temple!) and Lord Muruga. I have taken photographs of this temple and posted it in a public link http://picasaweb.google.com/RamaKrish55/MadavilagamTemple <http://picasaweb.google.com/RamaKrish55/MadavilagamTemple> The priest stays just outside the temple. If you are visiting the temple, he can open and show the temple anytime. I am writing this mail in the hope that such temples on the verge of collapse are brought to public notice and with HIS grace such temples bounce back to their old glory. Thanks, Karthik V
Guest guest
Dear Divine, You are perhaps aware we are renovating old and dilapidated temples, especially siva temples. What we do is first clean the temple, provide the basic necessities such as water, light, pooja vessels, items of daily pooja for atleast 6 months, dress for the dieties, oil for lamp etc.,provide a remuneration of 2000 to the gurukkal and 750 for cleaning and maintenance of the temple, provide 600 rupees for prasadam distribution for occasions like pradosham and other important festivals and all these totally cost about 1.5 to 2.o lakhs. Further the villagers are made to involve in the upkeep of the temple such as selling flowers, making prasad etc., and we also provide rudrakshams for doing archana to lord siva and distribute the same to the devotees in order to open up. For our part I am prepared to instal a pre-energised crystal maha meru in pyramid or cube to increase the vibrations. My experience is that once this is installed in a matter of one or two years, the presiding dieties ensure that the kumbabishekam is done. We also make all types of vahanams, upachara items, doors, and also undertake reconstruction. We have with us a retired archeological person to advise. If people can contribute the fund we will do our best. Guest guest
Dear kartik, It is really painful to see our ancient old temples in this pathetic condition. There are several such temples in Andhra too which go unnoticed. One such is Someshwara Temple of Kolanupaka near Warangal. Kolanupaka is famous for the avatara of great vira shaiva teacher and there is a wonderful pita in the name of this saint. He is Renukacharya also called " Revana Siddha Yogi " . A great saint who propounded srouta saiva siddhanta in south (one among 5 acharyas). There are several cracks and fissures to this linga and the garbhAlaya is almost stinking. But the next to this temple are the chain of Jain temples that are flourishing like anything and also having a good support from state govt. So, instead of donating the funds for construction of " new temples " to " seasonal gods " & " babas " , LET US TRY TO PROTECT OUR ANCIENT / OLD TEMPLES TO THE POSTERITY. This job though not impossible but a bit difficult by a single person but would be easy if state govt. bureaucrats from tourism / cultural promotion departments / senior IAS officials, archeological dept. can come forward to mobilize the resources & funds from Govt. I must thank some of the senior IAS officials who have good samskaras who have mobilised good amt. of govt. funds to some of the ancient temples like 1000-pillared temple of warangal, ancient Parasurameshwara Temple of Gudimallam near kalahasti, bhadrakali temple of warangal etc.....But still a lot of work needs to be done and good amt. of money needs to be sanctioned. So, i urge the devotees to protect our ancient temples and our culture which is our identity. Let us not construct " new temples " but let us protect our old temples that lack the least upacharas of dhupa and dipa. Also, let us try to protect our cows and raise a voice against " cow slaughter " . THIS IS THE ADVICE OF OUR SRINGERI ACHARYA SHRI BHARATI TIRTHA MAHASWMIGAL. Dharmo rakshati rakshitah..... with regards, sriram , " karthik_66 " <karthik_66 wrote: > > > Dear Sir/Madam, > > I recently visited a Shiva temple at > Madavilagam, near cheyur (15 kms from Maduranthagam), Chennai, > TamilNadu, India. Guest guest
Pranams There is one temple in Mullippadi near Dindigul in Tamil Nadu for Lord Kameswara and Goddess Kokilambal. As per our family history (we are telugu brahmins) this was built by my ancestors. The story given to us through the desecendants is that this was built in rememberance of our original place in Andhrapradesh. our ancestors have migrated from Andhra some 400 years back. The name of the Village or town given down to us is Kopparapalle. i do not know where is it. I am curious to know whether there is any temple for the same divine couple in Andhra. I will be more thanful to know the details fro our members from Andhra S.Kapaleeswaran, --- On Wed, 2/25/09, karthik_66 <karthik_66 wrote: karthik_66 <karthik_66 Lord Shiva temple at Madavilagam Wednesday, February 25, 2009, 11:33 PM Dear Sir/Madam, I recently visited a Shiva temple at Madavilagam, near cheyur (15 kms from Maduranthagam) , Chennai, TamilNadu, India.
