One example of such as Tantra is the Sanatkumara which gives slight variants for some Panchabrahma mantras. Some people say it came from some other Yajurveda Shaka like Katha or Kapishthala that used to be followed in our area. RR
Guest guest
Dear rajitha, Long back i had posted a mail on the " significance of number 81 " . There i have mentioned about pancha brahma mantras where the vamadeva mantra does not have the two names sreShTha and balA. The same is being copied here. Pancha Brahma Mantras: There is also a siva yantra based on Pancha-Brahma Mantras having 81 squares where the names " sreshta " and " balA " does not appear. The count of padAs in pancha brahma mantras of Siva (Isana, Tatpurusha, Aghora, Vamadeva,Sadyojata) is interestingly found to be 81. ISHANA: Isana sarva vidyanam iswara sarva bhutanam brahma adhipitih brahmanah adhipatih brahma siva me astu sada sivah om ..(17 padAs) TATPURUSHA: Tatpurushaya vidmahe maha devaya dhimahi tat nah rudrah prachodayat (9 padAs) AGHORA: Aghorebhyah atha ghorebhyah ghora ghorararebhyah sarvatah sarva sarvebhyo namah te astu rudra rupebhyah (13 padAs) VAMADEVA: Vama devaya namah jyestaya namah rudraya namah kalaya namah kala vikaranaya namah bala vikaranaya namah balah pramathanaya namah sarva bhuta damanaya namah manah unmanaya namah (25 padAs) SADYOJATA Sadyah jatam prapadyami sadya jataya vain amah namah bhave abhave na atibhave bhavasva maam bhava udbhavaya namah (17 padAs) So, 17+9+13+25+17 = 81 words Also in BodhAyana prokta MahAnyAsa Kalpa, the shadanga nyasas including Siva sankalpa, uttaranarayana mantra becomes 81 mantras. with regards, sriram , " rajita_rajvasishth " <rajita_rajvasishth wrote: > > , " sriram " <sriram_sapthasathi@> > > vAmadevAya namo jyeShThAya namo rudraya > > namah kAlAya namah kalavikaraNAya namo > > balavikaraNAya namo balapramathanAya namah > > sarvabhUtadamanAya namo manonmanAya namah // > > I was shown that this above version is the form in which it occurs in the Vaishnava Pancharatra Tantra.
