Guest guest
Moderator Note: { Kindly do not give your complete residential address in forums whether it is Ambaa-l or elsewhere. It is unsafe.} OM Namashivaya Dear devotees of Amba, Adiyen is placing a request to all philanthropists who are willing to contribute their mite to the reconstruction of ancient temple in Karathozhuvu Village, Udamalpet Taluk, Coimbatore District , Tamilnadu. The temple is dedicated to Mother Angala Parameswari and is a small temple on the banks of River Amaravathi a tributary of Cauvery. Mother is the family deity of adiyen and now the temple is being reconstructed fully, after dismantling the century old structure because of one of the stones on the Garbhagragam which holds the Vimanam( tower) developed a crack. The work is almost complete and the consecration of the temple is going to take place on 28th May 2009 by the grace of Ambaa. So those who are willing to take take part in this noble work may do so. A small brief about the temple, Mother Angalaparameswari chose this place as abode by Her own, our ancestors were merchants who were travelling in bullock carts from place to place, once mother appeared as a stone in one of the gunny bags and it was thrown out, once again the same stone appeared in the same bag and by oracle Mother indicated that She is Angalaparameswari of Melmalayanur and ordained our ancestors to worship Her as their family deity, and hence on the same triangular shaped stone a image was carved and a temple was built for Her. Later that image was replaced with a beautiful image of Mother Angalaparameswari but the old Adi Angalaparameswari image is still installed in the Maha mandapam along with Ganesha and and pooja is being done . No body knows when last the consecration was done, but by Her grace the work is going on now . Another unique aspect of this temple is the installation of Nandi as the mount of Mother. In mosr of the Amba temples when She is Shantha swaroopini like Karpagambal of Mylapore or Kamkshi of Kanchi etc, the mount of Mother us Lion but very rarely we see Nandi as the mount. Our ancestors explained this as though Angalaparameswari is Ugra roopini here She is worshipped as Shantha roopini signifying the Easwari aspect of Mother. One more interesting anecdote about the temple is, as the processional deity ( made of panjalokam) is very beautiful is also small ( only about a feet in height ) and that the temple is situates in a small village where there is no security measure except locking of the main doors , some criminals tried to steal Mother, but they could not succeed in their evil plans. Though Mother allowed Her to be lifted from the temple the criminals could not leave the temple precincts. The next day when the poojari came for poojas, he found the processional deity missing , later by the Grace of Mother She was found in the fence bush of the temple and was restored to the temple. Now as a special measure She is kept in the Local Shiva temple along with the processional deities of that temple. As the temple is situated in a small village patronage is very less the main festival being Maha Shivarathri a two day festival is conducted during that time and many devotees whose family deity is this Mother and the local villagers throng this temple . Now a days on newmoon days also Abishekam and special pooja are being done. Otherwise a single time pooja is being done regularly. Adiyen is fully aware that as such the temple does not have much historical significance and any of you may not be able the visit this remote place and have the darshan of Mother, still if you feel you can do something for the betterment of this century old temple you can please forward your cheques to the following address, S.Muruganandam, <Address Removed> [Moderators] (Please do mention your name, contact address and email id so that invitation, prasadam and details about the consecration may be sent to you .
