During dhupa 4) During Dipa darshana 5) During nirajana One should not ring the bell during naivedya, if done agama says one would go to raurava hell. with regards, sriram
Guest guest
dear Sriram, the fact that the ringing of the bell during the naivedya is called out explicitly implies that this must have been a common practice at that time too! this is a point of view from the agamas? and there must be other references which negate this? as I have seen the ringing of the bell during naivedyam at homes as well as in temples? regards Vishwam ________________________________ sriram <sriram_sapthasathi Sunday, March 15, 2009 12:15:38 PM ghanta nada vidhi (ringing of bell) ghanTA nAda vidhih adou tathAbhishEkAntE dhUpadIpou tathaiva cha nIrajanam iti pancha ghanTAnAdoou vidhIyatE ghanTAnAdam tathA vAdyam nrityam gItam tathaiva cha naivEdyakAlE yah kUryAt raurava narakam prajEt // During the puja, only 5 times, the bell must be rung: 1. Guest guest
Instead of this question, one should ask " what is the purpose of ringing of bell? " . The purpose is: To drive away unwanted elements; To make the upAsya devata and his/her parivara devatas extrovert (as they are usually in antarmukha avastha) to bless us during anushtana. A simple common sense: When we are enjoying a good meal, how do we feel during that moment when we hear the unwanted external noise? We feel very irritated, isn't it? Similarly, when the parivara devatas along with upasya devata are welcomed for a good sumptuous meal, let them enjoy the naivedya and with utmost humility you seek their blessings by showing the corresponding " mudrAs " . And hence, prohibited. with regards, sriram , vishwanthan Krishnamoorthy <krishvishy wrote: > > dear Sriram, > > the fact that the ringing of the bell during the naivedya is called out explicitly implies that this must have been a common practice at that time too! > > this is a point of view from the agamas? and there must be other references which negate this? > as I have seen the ringing of the bell during naivedyam at homes as well as in temples? > > regards > Vishwam > > > > > ________________________________ > sriram <sriram_sapthasathi > > Sunday, March 15, 2009 12:15:38 PM > ghanta nada vidhi (ringing of bell) > > > ghanTA nAda vidhih > > adou tathAbhishEkAntE dhUpadIpou tathaiva cha > nIrajanam iti pancha ghanTAnAdoou vidhIyatE > > ghanTAnAdam tathA vAdyam nrityam gItam tathaiva cha > naivEdyakAlE yah kUryAt raurava narakam prajEt // > > During the puja, only 5 times, the bell must be rung: > 1.
