Dear All,

We know there are various ways of doing japa each more efficacious

than the other in that order..On the manasa japa of the mantra, I read

that the letters of the mantra shall be meditated upon - does this

mean one visualizes the letters? When I try to do manasa japa, I can

note that the mantra is being chanted in my mind, but I dont

see/visualize the aksharas per se... Is this is the right way of doing

manasa japa? Can our members enlighten based on their experiences?

Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa also says the best way to meditate upon

Devi is to hold ones hands to the chest (right over the left hand) as

if holding a lamp..

Can we hear views from others?

Regards,

Raghav

The anubhuti in sadhana, progress in mantra japa is ONLY TO BE SHARED WITH ONE'S

GURUNATHA. Seek the guidance of your guru Shri Bhairava Sastrigal of

Shriman Sriram,

Your answer is the perfect one.

My dear devotees.... the road of sadhana is unique for each one of us.

The ultimate goal is common to all i.e Unification with the DIVINE within us.

But the path we tread is unique to each parampara or lineage. The same guru (G)

can have more than one disciple (lets say A, B). The experience of G-A is

different than G-B. Each of us respond to the inner divine within us in our own

special way. The same light within, burns with its own unique effulgence. This

cannot be compared or even shared.

Please approach your guru first for all your doubts.

Bala Sharanam,

Lalitha.

Doing japa mentally without moving the tongue or producing any sound is the best

way to achieve the goal. The divine energy of the Devatha or Guru meditated upon

is more important than anything else. One should feel that the total energy of

the divine - known or unknown to the sadak should be absorbed from head to foot

and foot to head and one should also feel that it is spreading throughout the

universe.

Locking of the hands on the lap or touching the chest is one's own convenience.

But one should ensure that the position does not produce pain in the hands after

some time, as that would disturb. It is clearly said as " sukhasana " and surabila

vadanaha - sit for japa in a very convenient pose and also be very happy because

you are going to meet God or Guru face to face.

May the divine bless you.

                                     Dear Sri Ram Garu

                                                                 You dont have

to be sorry, People like you should constantly remind jada buddhis like me so

that i dont make any mistakes, this was more like a memo to make sure that i

dont make the mistake, as we have a saying in telugu ( Kukka toka vankara), till

the point that my toka becomes straight, i need direction from all the learned

upasakas. Waiting for ambals grace through you all
