Guest guest
Isnt it better to consult the shivAchArya-s and the maThAdhipati-s of shaiva siddhAnta instead of a smArta maThAdhipati, if it is a temple based on shaiva-siddhAnta and run by shivAchArya-s? Wouldnt the same apply to pA~ncharAtra and vaikhAnasa temples? Just a doubt... , " sriram " <sriram_sapthasathi wrote: > > Dear gopal, > > AFAIK, kumbhabhishekam can be performed irrespective of the samvatsara nama. *Virodhi* has nothing to do with any evil omens nor does it bring *enemity* (as the name suggest). > > It is my sincere advice that seek the guidance of Shri Bharati Tirtha Swamigal of Sringeri who would also suggest a suitable date for kumbhabhishekam and also give *suvarna akshatas*. Guest guest
If temple is supervised by shivacharya, then he can be consulted. Because the tantra adopted by smarta and shaivagama during the ritualistic worship are different. But there is nothing wrong in consulting the acharya of sringeri as this pitha holds the privilege of holding the mula amnaya pitha among the 4 mutts in India and also any dharma sandehas. It has every authority to resolve the issues related to mantra, tantra, agama, veda and resolve the disputes related to sastra. This privilege is only given to the Jagatgurus of Sringeri Dakshinamnaya Pitha not even Kumbakonam Mutt alias Kanchi. regs, sriram , " Satish " <satisharigela wrote: > > Isnt it better to consult the shivAchArya-s and the maThAdhipati-s of shaiva siddhAnta instead of a smArta maThAdhipati, if it is a temple based on shaiva-siddhAnta and run by shivAchArya-s? > > Wouldnt the same apply to pA~ncharAtra and vaikhAnasa temples? > > Just a doubt... > > , " sriram " <sriram_sapthasathi@> wrote: > > > > Dear gopal, > > > > AFAIK, kumbhabhishekam can be performed irrespective of the samvatsara nama. Ofcourse AchArya and his predecessors are very learned sages and so can be consulted for a number of issues. >It has every authority to resolve the issues related to mantra, >tantra, agama, veda and resolve the disputes related to sastra. > This privilege is only given to the Jagatgurus of Sringeri >Dakshinamnaya Pitha not even Kumbakonam Mutt alias Kanchi. I am not sure who gives or where this authority comes from. If the AchArya-s are learned and trained in the ritual intricacies of that particular branch then ofcourse there is every reason to consult them. Otherwise I dont see a reason for it. Take for example: viShNu temples - Whom do they consult for their temple matters? The authority you speak of is valid only for those smArta-s that have been traditionally following those maTha-s. I dont think this compulsory for other smArta brAhmaNa-s and others like the saiddhAntika-s or the bhairavAchArin-s or other sects. - I stop here.
