Guest guest
I had long discussion with my friend this week and noted down the Narayana Panchabrahma mantras from him that are used in the worship of Vasudeva as per the Pancharatra Tantras. I am providing them because others in the list might be interested especially given their parallel to the Shiva version. Please do not ask me how to use them in Upasana because I believe you need to have appropriate instruction in the procedure. In Intrans: mUla mantra OM namo bhagavate vAsudevAya brahmA-1 OM nare-nare-narannAtha nara yasmAn narottama || brahmA-2 OM yaj~nAya namo yAnAya namo dharmAya namaH pUNyAya namo vratAya namo niyamAya namo mArgAnusAriNe namaH || brahmA-3 OM kAlebhyo.atha kAlebhyaH kAla-kAlAntarebhyash-cha sarvata sarva-sharvebhyo namas te rudra-rudrebhyaH || brahmA-4 OM tat-saMyogAya vidmahe hR^ishIkeshAya dhImahi | tan no viShNuH prachodayAt || brahmA-5 rodhaka sarva-vidyAnAM deva-dAnavAdhitpati mahApuruSha namo.astu te || The face of brahma-1 is of human nature. The face of brahmA-2 is of varAha. The face brahmA-3 is terrifying and that of nR^isiMha, it is like that of rudra. face of brahmA-4 is the one which teaches sAMkhya and yoga. The 5th face is the puruSha who is beyond all the tattvas. cheer Rajita
Guest guest
The parallel with the pa~ncha brahma mantra-s of shiva are so clear and no one can miss that. They almost look like they are imitating the shaiva mantra-s. The thrid one is so explicit in identifying nR^isiMha with rudra. Elsewhere nR^isiMha is imagined as destroying the rAkShasa-s with a gada (club - viShNu's attribute) in one hand and a trishUla( ofcourse a standard shaiva feature) in the other. The pAshupata-s, I read use the third and fourth i.e. aghora and tatpuruSha mantras of the shaiva pa~ncha brahma-s for mantra-japa. One would wonder if the vaiShNava-s use these in a similar way. > In Intrans: > mUla mantra OM namo bhagavate vAsudevAya > brahmA-1 > OM nare-nare-narannAtha nara yasmAn narottama || > brahmA-2 > OM yaj~nAya namo yAnAya namo dharmAya namaH pUNyAya namo vratAya namo niyamAya namo mArgAnusAriNe namaH || > brahmA-3 > OM kAlebhyo.atha kAlebhyaH kAla-kAlAntarebhyash-cha sarvata sarva-sharvebhyo namas te rudra-rudrebhyaH || > brahmA-4 > OM tat-saMyogAya vidmahe hR^ishIkeshAya dhImahi | tan no viShNuH prachodayAt || > brahmA-5 > rodhaka sarva-vidyAnAM deva-dAnavAdhitpati mahApuruSha namo.astu te || > > The face of brahma-1 is of human nature.
