My father used to say that Appaya Dikshitar's Durga Chandrakalasthuti gives the

same benefit as chanting DM as the essence of DM is captured in the 18 slokas

 

 

Namasthe

 

 

If bu just chanting for  a few minutes the DM - Devi Saptha Shloki ,  gives the

full benefit of chanting the 700 shlokas involving about 2.30 hrs ,why in the

first place should there be a procedure of chanting of the entire DM.

 

I think this is for those devotees who regularly follow a certain schedule of

chanting the the entire DM and if for certain reasons beyond their control , if

they are not able to do that , then such short cut methods would come to their

rescue and it is not for everybody.

very true, I am not suggesting that it is an alternative for DM.

IMHO, however out of their kindness mahans have taken into account the inability

of many lay persons who are not able to (or capable of) undertaking such

sadhanas. Hence they compose alternatives which provide proportional benefits.
