Dear devi bhaktas,

The great saint of Natha Sect apart from Shri Minanatha is Shri Gorakhnath who

falls in the 2nd category of Nava (9) Natha Order.

Like, his guru Minanatha, there are several legends around the birth of

Gorakhnatha. As per *Yogi Sampradaya Vishkruti*, Gorakhnatha migrated from

dakshina desa called *Chandragiri*.

As per *Goraksha Sahasranama Stotra*, he is said to have born in dakshina desa

called *BaDav* which can be seen from the following lines:

asti yAmyAm dishi kashchid desa baDava samjnakah

tatrAjani mahabuddhirmahamantra prasAdatah //

Now, whether these 2 gorakhnathas are same or different, it cannot be concluded.

Also, some scholars are of the view that the author of Maharthamanjari ie.,

Maheshwaranandantha is same as the Gorakhnatha.

Whatever may be his identity, Baba Gorakhnath had authored several works on Yoga

Shashtra as per the Natha Siddhanta in sanskrit and prakrit bhasha. Given below

is the list of his sanskrit works:

Namaste

Seeing The Name of MahaYogi GorakhNatha gives Immense joy and cheer for his

Great works's on our Spiritual culture.

The Ideal of MahaYogi Goraksha Nath more popularly known as Yogi Gorakhnath and

the Nath School of thought is said to be described in one Supreme word

" SAMARASYA " .

The One Word " SAMARASYA " includes the process of unification between purusha and

prakriti or Siva and Shakti. Attaining of this Ideal is said to be the unity of

Param Siva where Siva and shakti are one and inseparable MahaShakti according to

Shaktas and " Samarasya " according to Natha Sampradaya.

The Sampradaya of GuruPaduka the Highest Expression is Samarasya again.

it is said

Swaprakasa sivamurtih rekika tadvimarsa tanurekika tayoh .

samarasya vapurishyate para paduka parasivatmane guroh .

In the Initial Stage the padukas symbolise siva and shakti and the Higher Paduka

is the Union or Integration in the form of Samarasya of the two in the Supreme

unity also known as Poorna Diksha's in some Dakshina Amneya School's.

The works of MahaYogi Gorakhnath as mentioned by our Brother Sriram are many in

number and many other works were left in doubt without attributing them to the

Mahayogi for they were written in some regional langauges and so on. Among these

works Siddha Sidhanta Paddhati occupies a Special Position as a Authority for

many other books latter to follow in this school that is Siddha yogi Sampradaya.

Goraksha Siddhanta Sangraha is another important work which gives the

Philosophical and religious views of the MahaYogi.

Gorakhnath and his Direct followers and supposed to be expert teachers in Yogic

Methods and were very powerful preachers of Siva-Shaktism. His works were

universal in approach and preached the Importance and the greatness of the

Vidya's of Bharata Varsha. They were Non-Controversial with other school's or

religion. The Ideal of Samarasya by the Mahayogi is the perfect adjournment and

harmony and unification in our entire life and experience. We have to realise

" SAMARASYA " in all our walks of life. Whatever may be the diversities and

differences in which we may happen to be we have to experiance and enjoy

samarasya (unity) which is Sachidananda. Taking such Mahayogis as inspirations

we have to acquire the power to maintain balance and tranquiltity (Samarasya can

be the art of composure) in our hearts and spread love to the whole world and

playing our part in relation to all our differences joyfully with the samarasya

in our mind that we all belong to the One universal soul (Jagadamba) which we

all collectivly call as

Yaa Devi Sarva Bhutesu Maatru rupena samstita

namaste namaste namaste namo namah

(My Pranams to the forthcoming Navaratri's)

Regards

Diwakar

(the above lines are dedicated to the Authors of the books written on The

MahaYogi from which I was deeply Motivated.)
