Kashmiri Pandits hold this in high esteem.

I shall be grateful to learn details about the painting from the respectable

member.

Is it the custom or is it a parayana rule that if one does parayanam of Indrkshi

Stotra he or she will also have to recite a Siva Stotra,

I want some clarification on this aspect

Further to realise which goal is Indrakshi Stotra Japa is prescribed

Namskaram to all

Jai Mata Di

Dear krishnamurthy garu,

Long back i had posted this clarification in this forum. The same is being

pasted here for you.

Though there is no thumb rule to recite both at a time, it is

generally a good practice followed to recite both siva kavacha and

indrakshi stotra. Upasana of both sakti and saktimAn ie., power and

wielder of power is a good practice and any pratyavAya or dosha in the

upasana of shakti is sublimated and negated by the saktimAn or weilder

of power. In tantra this principle of sakti and saktimAn are called

Bhairavi and Bhairava. And hence, the parayana of Lakshmi Ashtottara

is prescribed after the parayana of Vishnu Sahasranama etc.

So, going by similar lines, the Indrakshi is the form of Durga

basically worshipped to cure prolonged illness, fever, contagious

diseases, small pox, chicken pox, visha and tivra jwaras etc.

Indrakshi is also called SatAkshi, Shakambari, Gauri and Durga.

Satakshi is probably the nearer and closer to Indrakshi. Because Indra

has 1000 eyes and since SatAkshi is also having 1000 eyes and with her

1000 eyes She protects Her children from diseases etc. (ref Chandi

Sapthasati). So, any doshas or yogini pratyavAya, is countered by Siva

Kavacha which acts as an armour during the parayana. Moreover, the

objective of the Siva Kavacha is also in line with Indrakshi stavah as

it too cures the visha jwaras etc. Wonderful results are observed by

doing the parayana of Siva Kavacha and application of mantric bhasma

on the forehead.

Since, Siva is the Master Healer or the Doctor of Doctors, moreover,

since He is the Lord of Durga as saktimAn and other mArI devatAs, probably both

have been prescribed.

with regards,

sriram
