nAlaM vA paramopakAraka-midaM tvekaM paSUnAM pate

paSyan kukShigatAn charAcharagaNAn bAhyasthitAn rakShitum |

sarvAmartya-PalAyanauShadha-matijvAlAkaraM BIkaraM

nikShiptaM garalaM gale na gilitaM nodgIrNa-meva tvayA || 31 ||

 

Oh! Lord of all beings! Is the one single great help be not sufficient ? In

order to protect the moving and non moving living beings in your stomach and

others outside you neither swallowed nor spat but stopped at your throat the

deadly fearful fire producing herbal poison which makes the Devas flee.

Hey! Parameswara! To know your great kaarunyam, endless sakthi and eternal

love, is not recalling your fantastic feat of aalaahala paanam enough! Hey!

Jagadeesaa! You have taken a vow to protect the entire universe and all the

living beings, is it not? The wonder of it all is that you put into your

mouth that terrible poison and when Paarvathi stopped you from swallowing

because she feared that the jeevaraasis and the worlds inside you would die,

yet you would not spit it out because you have taken the poison in to

protect the worlds outside! So you kept it in your throat and turned it into

an aabharaNam. No other god could have done this extraordinary feat! Thus

the very name ‘ThiruneelakaNtam’ stuns the bhaktha and turns him into

ecstacy!
