Guest guest
Dear All, Greetings. I chanced upon a catalog of manuscripts in Adyar Library and a couple of others. I found a few Devi/Siva Nama Stotras : 1. Chakreshwari Sahasranama Stotram 2. TakArakUta Sahasranama Stotram 3. Tripura Sundari Sahasranama Stotram 4. Dakshina Kali Sahasranama Stotram 5. Guhya Bhavani Sahasranama Stotram 6. Dakshinamurthy Catuh Sata Nama Stotram - 400 names (Bhavishyottara Puranam) 7. Bhairava Sahasranama Stotram 8. Mahadeva Ashtottaram 9. Rudra Dasakshari Trishati 10. Virabhadra Sahasranama Stotram - said to be from Padma Puran 11. Vedasara Shiva Sahasranama stotram 12. Sundareshwara Ashottaram - I presume it is for Madurai 13. Ugra TArA Sahasranama - Akshobhya Samihita 13. Nilakhanta Shata nama Stotram I also found a couple of new Vishnu Sahasranamas: 1. Purushottama Sahasranama Stotram by Vallabhacharya 2. Parashurama Sahasranama/Bhargava Sahasrnama - I enquired about a Sahasranama at Parashurama Temple in Kovalam, Kerala - they said they don't have any and they use general Vishnu Sahasranama only. If any one knows any info on the above, I would be grateful if you share the same. Thanks & Regards, Murali
Guest guest
Hi, Greetings. I found that there are online catalogs of manuscripts available in various libraries in India. I was going through the list available at Bikaner and found several other new pieces like Dhanada Trishati, Dhanada Sahasranama, Krodhaupa shamana Sahasranama, Devi Shiva Ashtottaram (all names start with Shiva), etc. There are lots. Similarly there are lots of rare stotras too. Since Parashurama or Bhargava Sahasranama is said to be from Agni Puran, I once again checked the Agni Puran mula I have which was published by Chowkhamba Krishnadas Academy. I could not find this or any other Sahasranama in Agni Puran. This is not very surprising since many of the Sahasranamas attributed to various purans are not to be found in the published versions of the complete purans - e.g. Varaha Sahasranama from Skanda Puran, Nrusimha Sahasranama from Nrusimha Puran, Ashtadashabhuja Mahalakshmi Sahasranama from Padma Puran, Vittala Sahasranama from Padma Puran, etc. I am not sure whether there is a way to seek copies of manuscripts from these libraries. Any thoughts/experience in this regard? Thanks & Regards, Murali
Guest guest
Respected devotees, Related to this topic, are there any stOtrA-s for Mother dharmAmbikA at Thiruvaiyaaru. This hallowed kShetra has been sanctified by the presence of the bard-saint Thyagaraja, whose compositions on the Lord and Mother here, as those of his illustrious contemporaries Muttusvami Dikshitar and Shyama Sastri are beyond compare. http://mslalithanandini.blogspot.com/2006/04/tiruvaiyaru-kshetra-kriti-s-of-sain\ t.html Some years ago, i had posted one such monumental composition @ http://www.ambaa.org/audio/kritis/karuNajUDavammA.html For several months now, I have been meaning to send a request for anything in praise of Mother dharmAmbikA. From my search i found only one work dharmAmbikAstavaH /message/2562 which by strange coincidence is also by a(nother) person by name Thyagaraja. I will be very thankful for any other devotional work on dharmasamvardhini. Does anyone also have access to the following works that are referred to @ http://www.kamakotimandali.com/blog >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> 15. kamalAmbikA mAhAtmyam: AdhyAtmika tattva in durgA saptashatI and krtis of the musical trinity 16. kamalAlaya kShetra tattvam: An exposition on the tattva of shrI tyAgarAja, the presiding deity of Thiruvarur, based on the secretive Muchukunda Sahasranama 17.
