Raman's Mother

Bagwaan 's Mother just before her physical death was lying on the lap of Ramana

and for about 14 hours or so Bagwaan had placed one hand on Her spiritual heart

and the other hand on the head of his Mother. Then when the end came, sishyas

around wanted to arrange for the funeral, when Ramana confirmed that She has

merged with the Brahman. He also explained that during that last critical 14 hrs

she had experienced and exhausted all her Karmas and impressions of previous

births.

Thereafter hearing this the sishyas made arrangements to bury Her as per the

customs for a Realized soul. A temple was built with a linga and SriChakra was

personally installed by Bagwaan himself.

He also said that when he tried to do this on another of his Sishya ( I think

Muraganar by name,) he was not successful as the life escaped through the

Eyes, but he confirmed would get a higher Birth.

This, I had read before 20 yrs. Corrections welcome.

Two points. First Bhagavan had no sishyas. They were all his devotees.

Second, the gentleman in question was Palaniswamy who remained with Bhagavan

from the beginning and served him well. His relationship to Bhagavan was

like the relationship of Hanuman to Rama. When Bhagavan was trying to give

him Moksha on his deathbed, he opened his eyes and the praaNa escaped

through that. He would have born again to exhaust the unburnt karmas.

Palaniswamy was perhaps associated with Bhagavan in previous births also. In

the satsangham with Bhagavan, he had attained nissangathwam, nirmOhathwam

and nischalathathwam and he would have attained jeevan mukthi also but for

the opening of the eyes. That escaped karma is sure to exhaust.

This shows that there are two ways to attain Moksha. One by adhereing to

one's own Dharma and the other by surrendering to a Jeevan Muktha. *The

second one happens due to poorva karma of nishkaama karmam becuase an

ignorant one would not know a liberated one without the divine direction

which we call destiny.
