Guest guest
Pranams, Just a side note on the tattvika aspect of the word " Tripurasundari " ************************* The 12th mantra of 3rd khanda in Keno Upanishad says: // tasminnevAkAsho striyamAjagAma bahushobhamAnAmumA.NhaimavatiM tA.NhovAcha kimetadyakshamiti // 12 This upanishad vakya forms the sourceof the word " tripura-sundari " . " bahushobhamAnAm " implies extremely enchanting, luminous etc. ie., that which shines with Supreme Knowledge. This Supreme Knowledge is born out of Tapas. Since, Mother Parvati (Uma) shines with this Supreme Knowledge which is born due to Her intense Tapas on Siva and moreover She is verily that Supreme Knowledge, She is addressed as " bahushobhamAnAm " . This meaning is also reflected in Srisukta as " hiranyavarnAm " , " harinIm " , " chandrAm " etc. So, such a " bahushobhamAna rupa hariNi " is called " sundari " . This " bahushobhamAna tattva " is also the Purna Jnana tattva in Triputi or Triad (Jnatr-jnana-jneya). In this triad of " Knower-Knowledge-object to be known " , what remains after the Triputi-bhedana is the Satchidananda Tattva. Divine Mother is such a form of Jnana-swarupini that shines in tripuTa alias tripuRa - the Triad and hence " TRIPURA(TA)-SUNDARI " . ****************************** A side note on the Romanticism in Saundaryalahari: **************************** There is controversy among the devotees that Saundaryalahari has a tinge of " romanticism " because Ambaal is described in a romantic way by describing Her physical beauty. Howsoever may the appearence of his physical mother whether beautiful or ugly, for her kid, his mother is the most beautiful object on this earth and similarly the vice-versa. Even though the child is physically crippled or disfigured, he is the apple of the eye for the physical mother. This mother-child relationship is the sweetest and most beautiful of all the relationships in the world. Such a child was our beloved Acharya Sankara Bhagavatpada and such was his relationship with Mother Divine. And hence, He names his composition " Saundarya-lahari " which is an expression of " sweet & beautiful " relationship. There is nothing romantic in appearence. Don't our physical mothers have beautiful sthanas that ooze nectar-like milk for nourishment for children; from where are we born if our physical mothers were not there. Mother Kamakhya is the expression of this concept which is " brahma-yoni " . It is this brahmayoni where ultimately this universe dissolves and bears the seed of Creation again. yA devi sarvabhuteshu matru rupena samsthitah namastasyai namastasyai namastasyai namo namah regs, sriram , ganapathy = = vijaya <srividya101 wrote: > > > > The Bhasyam of AD so far had described the beauty of Various forts,Palaces made of gold, silver, nav rathnas, beauty of deities and nature also. > > In this regards I recall what Maha Swamy had said about Beauty. > > Quote : > > Beauty has an universal appeal.
