Guest guest
kah tArakAsurah? The question is self-explanatory ie., Who is Tarakasura? Shri Ganapati Muni explains as: nanu tArakAvadhArtham skandaya utpattih/ sa cha chAritrikah puruSha iti chEnna / tArakA suro(a)pi tAtvika eva / tarati sarvAnmanuShyAn iti tArako mrityuh / ubhayaya mrityum jayati guhah / pramAda rupam samsArahEtum jnAnapradatvEna / shatrubhinchikIrShitamastrabalAt / asya eva tArakasya putrAh tripurAsurA iti purANEShu katyate / tripurAsurAscha tribhyah pAShEbhyo nAtirichyantE / tEShAm pitA pramAdah / pramAdaschAtmanashrutirdEhE patanam / deha atma bhAva iti yAvat // Shri Vashishta Ganapati Muni says that kumara sambhava (Skanda janana) is a philosophical aspect which is only known through vichara marga. tarati iti tArakah says Muni. It is the Mrityu which is extolled as Tarakasura. Mrityu in the ordinary sense is the physical death and in philosophical sense is the Ajnana. Skanda has conquered both the aspects ie., mortality & ignorance. Ganapati Muni names this mrityu rupa Taraka as " pramAda " whose sons are Tripura Asuras in Purana. These tripurAsurAs according to Ganapati Muni are the grandhi-trayAs. These pAsha trayAs or grandhi trayAs are the by-product of pramAda which is atma-chyuti which results in deha-atma bhAva. The tArakAsura samhAra alongwith his sons TripurAsuras are the symbolic representation of Grandhi Traya Bhedana which is reflected in the " Narada-Sanatkumara Samvada " of Chandogya Upanishad. The Skanda of Puranas is none other than the Sanatkumara of Chandogya Upanishad. Shri Muni says : // evam skandasanatkumArayOrvyatirEkamAmananti chandOgAh / sa eva guhAshayah guruguhah kAraNa guruh // It is the Skanda or Subramanya who incarnated as Sanatkumara, as Kumarila Bhatta, as Tirujnana Sambandhar and as Bhagavan Ramana Maharishi. regs, sriram
