Guest guest
Pranams, ***************** but such a mistranslation is so common that one has to go back to sanskrit root words. In the process the spirit and significance of original text is lost *********************** You have rightly pointed out. This has been the cases with learned upasakas also. Antah sphurana depends from upasaka to upasaka. Very recently, during the translation of Arya Dwisati, the meaning of the word " uttara " was suggested as " unnata-tara " which may not be palatable to some. I would like to mention a wonderful incident which happened recently. During my daily recital of Purusha Sukta, my mind was revolving around the rk " padOsya visvA bhUtAni / tripAdasyAmritam divi / tripAd Urdhwa udait purushah ..../ " Taking the Sayana Bhashya and meditating on the above rk i just broke my head why the Seer used the 3 quarters to be hidden and 1 quarter to be the Creation. I was very particular on this mathematics which was skipped by Shri Sayana. Days & months passed like this. Then one day, as if it was a miracle, i chanced upon certain manuscripts of Shri Vashishta Ganapati Muni on Rg Veda Bhashya. I was glancing at the Purusha Sukta Bhashya and suddenly my eyes glued to the above rik and Shri Ganapati Muni just explained it superbly which was far more beautiful than Sayanacharya. The same meaning was running at the back of my mind but out of sastra maryada for fear of stepping the limits of Sayana Bhashya never expressed this to my gurunatha. When i opened the bhashya of Shri Ganapati Muni, it was exactly the same what i thought. Shri Ganapati Muni says that the Creation is a Primordial Sound which is the Supreme Purusha having 4 stages as parA, pashyanti, madhyama & vaikhari. So, the 3 quarters imply the parA, pashyanti, madhyama that are hidden from the common vision and the 1 quarter which the visible creation is Vaikhari stage. Shri Muni visualises the entire creation in the context of Vak. May be this mail of mine might sound a bit rebellious as the limits of sayana bhashya are crossed but my idea of post was to show that " Antah Sphurana " differs from upasaka to upasaka as i mentioned above. with regs, sriram
