Guest guest
Namasthe. SL 43 is devoted to the description of Ambaaal's Black tresses of Hair. A regular chant of this shloka should dispel the darkness of our Minds. Let us see how Maha Swamy explains to us the meaning of this shloka. Quote : (edited for brevity ) Adi SHankara describes the Ambaal's hair with a chain of adjectives. It is well combed, not tangly, glossy without knots, like a forest of dark lotuses, smooth and Velevety. It also possesses the coolness and color of Indhivana flowers and another remarkable characteristic of the hair is its NATURAL FRAGRANCE and is redolent of divine fragrance. There are many temples where the Goddess name has been named after her hair. " KUNTHALA NAYAKI,BHRAMARA KUNTHALAMA,NEELA KUNTHALAMBA,ANJANA KUNTHALAMBA,PUSHPA KUNTHALAMBA,SUGHANDHA KUNTHALAMBIKA ETC. In LS it is referred to as NILA CHIKURAA the one with Black/Blue hair(Navy Blue) and CHAMAPAKA SOHA PUNNAGA SAUGHANDHI KALASATHKACHA -- Ambaa's hair adored by flowers such as Champaka,Ashoka,Punnaga and Sughandhi flowers. In the Trishati also there is a Namavali -- ELASUGHANDHICHIKURA. Why should She wear the flowers when there is inherent divine fragrance. She does it because the flowers are desirous of being worn by Her.Instead of flowers experiencing the scent from a distance they yearn to enjoy the fragrance of ambaa's hair by being very close to her hairs. EVEN TO DAY IN CERTAIN PLACES WHERE PUJA TO AMBAA IS PROPERLY CONDUCTED AND AMBAA'S APPEARANCE IS RECOGNIZED, WE HEAR IT BEING SAID " THERE IS SCENT OF SCREW PINE FLOWERS IN THE AIR. UNQUOTE: Has anybody has the experience like this in puja and look forward to hear if any. Guest guest
Namaste. The description of Ambaal hair ie., neatly combed, without knots etc. and decorated with flowers shows Her pAtivratya dharma towards Her Consort Kameshwara. A suvasini should never ever loosen her hair and should never maintain it in disheavelled manner. A suvasini should always look mangalarupini to her husband with turmeric applied on her feet, and face. Suvasinis should not cut her hair, should not go to beauty parlours for " bob cuts " which is the order of the day now. Unfortunately, i see many ladies in the mandalis of today who do parayan of LS but does not follow the least principles of our dharma like applying turmeric to feet, hair tightened and well combed with flowers. This is not a good sign of saumangalya. That is what my gurunatha told me. And hence, their husbands suffer from many problems and mental illnesses. regs, sriram , ganapathy = = vijaya <srividya101 wrote: > > > Namasthe. > > SL 43 is devoted to the description of Ambaaal's Black tresses of Hair.
