If knowledgeable members can their time to post rules laid out by shaivagama-s on this topic. It will be useful. Many many famous shiva temples state in their sthala puraaNa that the lingam was svambhu and it was worshipped in formal and informal ways before a formal shrine was constructed around it. This is the first thought that came to my mind when I saw this message. With best wishes, Ravi

Guest guest
I believe this is being done outside India. If it is in US, then there is something called HIndu Temple association of NA based in NY. They try to help each other in matters like this. The contact details can be found by contacting from the website for NY flushing temple at www.nyganeshtemple.org. Another resource is reach out to DC temple at www.ssvt.org Both the folks are helpful and have roots that go back deep in to South Indian temples. Both may provide you with starters, contacts they use in India etc. -gopal ________________________________ ganapathy = = vijaya <srividya101 Mon, February 22, 2010 6:14:04 AM Re: size of sivalinga for prathistha in a sivalayam Dear Sir, Pl be guided by the sashtras and right persons would be the Principal of Aghama Pata Sala Kaanchipuram. and you may contact them in person or through mail. ganapathy On Sun, Feb 21, 2010 at 7:49 PM, Ravisankar Mayavaram <abhayambika@ gmail.com > wrote: > > > On Thu, Feb 18, 2010 at 7:03 PM, MaruthiPrasad M <melchoir47 (AT) gmail (DOT) com<melchoir47% 40gmail.com> > >wrote: > > > > > > > > if the above particulars are given in an authentic fashion, it will be of > > great help to understand the same. i am interested in these particulars, > as > > a shiva temple is coming up near our place. > > > > > This is a very interesting topic. If you are interested let me know. If you want natural crystal shivalingam without blemish, it is difficult because we will search the crystal without air bubble, water, dust and other impurities and chiseling them is a great risk. Guest guest
The shiva lingam, the temple land, the main moolavar idol should all be the same measurement representing the 96 divine energies or tatwas and this means the temple length and width should be 96, the idol 96 and the gopuram 96 etc., divided by 96 or part thereof like 48,24 etc. Then only the divine energy gets installed. That is my view. Guest guest
Dear Brother, The absolutely pure K9 crystal shiva lingam of 9.6 inches height would cost around Rs.1.5 lakhs. However for any temple requirement I am prepared to completely remove my labour and charges and profits and offer the same around Rs.1,20,000 as a very special case. I can make the shivalingam as per design given by you, conforming to the temple history and agama principles. Lead time will be 90 days.
