Guest guest
Namaste. A small correction here << Source of Devi's Birth>> The word " birth " is not the correct word here. It should be Emergence. The presence of devi is always there and She is eternal as Jnana Swarupa. Because of the Mahayaga and to destroy Bhandasura, She emerged from Chidagni. Just as a side note to stress on Eternality of Devi: After the destruction of Daksha Yajna, Devi Sati immolates Herself leaving behind the Siva. This story is well known to us that after that Siva assumes the form of Lord Dakshinamurthy. Lord Dakshinamurthy is a celibate and we don't see Devi beside Him. It is to be noted that Devi is eternally united with Siva and never leaves Him. So, the Jnana Kala of Dakshinamurthy is the Devi Herself. She is ever present in Dakshinamurthy as His Jnana Kala and hence She is called " Dakshinamurthy Rupini " or " Sakshat Shri Dakshinamurthy Manognayai Namah " . Such a Dakshinamurthy Swarupini is Mother Jnana Prasunambika Devi of Shri Kalahasti. The Jnana Kala of Lord Dakshinamurthy is none other than Goddess Jnanaprasumbika Devi that sports in Kalahasti Temple. Morover, there also another speciality in Kalahasti. Just as Lord Siva gives Taraka Mantra Upadesa to His devotees at Kasi, in Kalahasti also, there is a spot where Lord Kalahastishwara liberates His devotees by initiating with Taraka Mantra. regs, sriram , " Venkata Sriram " <sriram_sapthasathi wrote: > > Namaste. > > //// > sadanasyAnalakoNe satata.n praNamAmi kuNDamAgneyam.h . > tatrasthita.n cha vahni.n taralashikhAjaTilamambikAjanakam.h .. > // > > I always pray to the Chidagni which is the Source of Devi's Birth. Guest guest
Namaste. There are 4 entrances to the main shrine of Srikalahastishwara Temple. Just go back to the Southern Entrance, you will find a hill called Kannappa Hill. You need not go towards that hill. Near the slope, there is a small shrine dedicated to Lord Siva called Manikanteswara. It was worshipped by a female devotee of Lord Kalahastishwara. Near that temple, there is a small hall (mantapa) by name Maniganniagattam which was dedicated to the this lady devotee who shed her mortal coil here. This lady was blessed with a vision of Lord Siva here while she was shedding her mortal coil and was initiated into Taraka Mantra in her right ear. And it was the wish of this great devotee that whoever visits this place, would be initiated in Taraka Mantra. Even now, there is a tradition here of bringing the devotees who are in the last stage of their life. When they are dying, they are placed on the ground in Maniganniagattam Mantapa with their right ear touching the ground. It is amazing to learn that when the last breath escapes, the body is given a big jerk and the jiva escapes from right ear. The body which is kept at rest with right ear touching the ground moves to the other side and the right ear which was touching the ground comes up that is " ready to receive the initiation from Lord Kalahastishwara " . As usual, given the chance I would never miss the chance of narrating amazing incidents in the life of my gurunatha. There lived an old saivite who was an ardent disciple of Kanchi Mahaperiyaval by name Shri N. Parameshwara Iyer, who was a great srividyopasaka and adept in aghora vidya. I believe he is still alive in Kalahasti whose age is around 95 years. He knows every nook & corner of Shrikalahasti town. It was Shri Iyer who guided my gurunatha in showing some of the old monuments, idols, temples, kannappa hill etc. It was Shri Iyer who took guruji to this sacred place called " Maniganniagattam " .
