Guest guest
Namaste. As per the the sthala purana of Srikalahasti, a particular date is in vogue which is supposed to be the date of emergence of Lord Dakshinamurthy. Here is a legend. Upon the directions of Lord Brahma, the three sages Parasara, Sanatkumara and Suka Yogindra visit Srikalahasti which is said to be the Southern Kailasa. They perform religious austerities by taking bath at Suvarnamukhi river. Pleased with the austerities of the sages, Lord Siva in the form of Dakshinamurthy emerges and bestows the Advaita Siddhi to these three sages. The date of emergence of Dakshinamurthy is CHAITRA SHUDDHA DASAMI at the time of ASHLESHA NAKSHATRA. The day was SUNDAY. The spot where the Dakshinamurthy emerged is seen to this day which is identified as a certain Banyan Tree near Brahmavidya Tirtha at the banks of river Suvarnamukhi. There are 2 lingas here: One is Sanatkumara Linga and the other is Parasareshwara Linga. At this spot, if one performs the japa of Medha Dakshinamurthy, mantra siddhi is easily bestowed with the grace of Dakshinamurthy who presides this place. This was the assurance given to the three sages. Regs, Sriram
