srividyopasaka dikshita should always sport with Bhasma and Kumkuma. Kumkuma

should be covered with Bhasma as described by Shri Bhaskaraya Makhin. Shri

Bhaskararaya while ........

Because of the bright color KumKum would always stand out. Kindly explain how

this is done.

With Warm Regards

Namaste.

Shri Bhaskararaya Makhin says

// kumkumachandanEna shAktAnAM bhrUmadhyE binduriShyatE iti chihnAni viditAnyapi

vibhUtidhAraNAdi shaiva chihnairAcchAditAnyEva kAryANi //

From the above statement, it is understood that kumkuma should be applied

alongwith the Sandal Paste. And later on Bhasma should be applied.

But I too don't know how to apply like this because I failed miserably here.

The moment I applied bhasma, the kumkuma is wiped off.

So, I am satisfied with the philosophical interpretation of Shri Bhaskaraya

Makhin's statement here:

// aprAkaTyEpi kartavyatAM eva vivruNOti shaktErupAstirantaHkaraNaikavEdyA kAryA

//

This says Sakti upasana should be performed internally without any publicity &

advertisement just as one hides one's kumkuma with bhasma. After all, the

essence of Sakta Vidya is Kundalini Prabodhana and Shatchakra Bhedana.

Kundalini is made to rise from Muladhara and is united with Parasiva at

Sahasrara. The one who performs this is a true kaula yogi.

Regs,

Sriram
