When doing abhishekam for Sri Ambal vigraha at home, must the vigraha be

smeared with vaasanai thailam ( oil ) first? Or can it be excluded? Does the

rule apply to panchaloka vigraha and marble vigraha?

Thank you,

Ayyappa

Ambaa ji and Shiv Ji are the two sides of the same coin and what is followed

for the Rudra Abhishkam krama could be done for Ambaaji also.

The Krama is Thailam,Pancha Gavyam,Panchamrutham,Cow's milk (unboiled) , Curd of

Cow, Cow's ghee, honey,Fruit juice, coconut water, Sandal Paste ( avoid powder

which is generally synthetic) and Vibhuthy for Shiva and turmeric for ambaa.

Now there is no Compulsion and finally what is needed is Bhakthy. You may chose

to do as per the convenience and availability of the materials.

The other day Srram ji mentioned to me that his Guru used to offer water as

Neiveidyam to ambaa as he was so poor materially and super affluent Spiritually.

The question is whether we have the same amount of Bhakthy.

Therefore till we attain that state we have no Choice but to follow strictly

what is prescribed.

We may cry involuntarily while doing puja or hearing ambaa shlokas or during

discourses. these are all purely temporary Bhakthy. We should have Bhakthy like

the Paramahamsa, Bagwaan Ramana, Maha Periyavaal,Mahaswamies of Sringeri etc

That is what Bhakthy is about !!!!!!!!!!!!
