Porundhiya muppurai seppu urai seiyyum puNar mulaiyAL

varundhiya vanji marungul manOnmaNi, vAr sadaiyOn

arundhiya nanju amudhu Akkiya ambikai, ambuya-mEl

thirundhiya sundhari, andhari - pAdham senniyadhe!

 

porundhiya: in the

muppurai: three tasks (of Creation, Sustenance and Dissolution);

Alternate meaning: one who resides in the three cities (thripura:

LSN:626)

seppu: filling/complete

urai seiyyum: rubbing (I might be wrong here, correct interpretation

is welcome)

puNar: joined

mulayAL: breasted

varundhiya: suffering

vanji: vanji creeper like waist

marungul: weeps

manOnmaNi: Gem of the mind (LSN:207)

vAr: collected and put on top

sadaiyOn: one with the jata (which was collected and put on top)

arundhiya: (who) drank

nanju: the poison

amudhu: nectar

Akkiya: made into

ambikai: ambika

ambuya-mEl: ambuyam = Lotus; mEl: on top of

thrundhiya: sits

sundhari: Beautiful one

andhari: endless one

pAdham: feet

senniyadhe: become my head

 

O' Gem of the mind, who resides in the tasks (or three cities), whose

heavy, joined breasts are tormenting and making thy slender waist

cry, who made the poison drunk by the One with jata mudi (Shiva) into

nectar. O' beautiful one, who resides on the lotus flower, You are

endless. Please let Your feet be (on) my head.
