Patterns that are embeded in our culture and tradition that we grow up with. Once you try to change this pattern, there will be resistence and even if there's a change, we continue to create patterns. So we go through life always being driven from pattern to pattern into which we have settled down so comfortably : Our Comfort Zone, Our thoughts and our behavior. And indeed its difficult to shake away this comfort zone we create for ourselves.
