Guest guest
Hi: I'd identified the new " empty chairs " pic simply as " an unattributed 'Women's Day' ad from India. A member has just now told me the context of the picture via IM, and I thought it was quite powerful and worth sharing: " It is about female infanticide -- like if you kill the girl child, this is what the world would be like. " So now you know DB , " Devi Bhakta " <devi_bhakta wrote: > > Here are the captions for this week's featured photographs, located > on the group's splash page, just below the Sri Chakra: > > / > > *****
Guest guest
The picture of empty chair is very telling. The 2 other pics are also wonderful. Fortunately, there is an increasing understanding among parents that is is the girl child who may have a kind word for them in their old age.It is the parents who have sons who are finding them selves in Old Age homes or other wise humiliated. Revolutionary changes in economy are making it easier for girls even with just school education to get jobs in sales and service sectors. In fact employers prefer them to boys.I hope female infanticide which is basically due to economic factors will soon stop.
