Guest guest
Today is the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year (in the Northern Hemisphere). For those Neo-Pagans who celebrate it as a holiday, happy Solstice! My question: I know that Hindus celebrate Makara Sankranti, the entry of the Sun into the constellation/sign of Makara (Capricorn). Because of precession of the equinoxes, this holiday usually is celebrated around January 14th. But there is apparently no observation of the OTHER Solstice? Howcome there isn't a Karkara (Cancer) Sankranti? (Which would probably be observed around July 14.) I seem to recall there are certain rituals Hindus cannot do after the Summer Solstice, because the Sun is now waning in power. What are these restricted rituals? -- Len/ Kalipadma Moody friends.
