Guest guest
Hello All, Thank you very much for all your advice. Personally, I am feeling a lot better now. I have not stopped chanting though I missed my last nights session. My experiences with mantras has never bought me this level of depression. I am not sure if part of the low feeling is because of things going on in my personal life and job front. But i've always been happy-go-lucky inspite of bad things happenning in the past. This was totally new. Karen, I personally would to your idea. I am relatively new to the mantra world so I hope I am not offending anyone. The " sankalpa " i had when I started the mantra was abundance of peace of mind. Probably, to get peace we would have to empty the attics of our minds. I plan to continue for some more time before drawing a final conclusion. Once again, thank you all suggestions and advice. I really appreciate having them. Perhaps the mantra is raising such feelings so they can be released, opening the space for abundance to arise? Ever since I started chanting I have a sense of sadness and today I feel a little depressed. [....]
Guest guest
Dear Robert, The sadness that you felt/feel (In my opinion) stems from the challenges in your person life. As you mention in your mail , that you are normally a very happy-go-lucky person. Even the most cheerful of us are not immune to occasional bouts of mild-depression. In your case I am sure it would not last. (Improper/incorrect )Chanting of the mantra would at worst not yield the desired results.Be not afraid. with best regards Aditya On Thu, Feb 19, 2009 at 6:21 AM, krishna pillai <krish.pillaiwrote: > Hello Bob,Ok so there are two problems here, well one isn't quite a > problem as much as it is the nature of the deity herself... in that lakshmi > is a manifestation of the shakti of fullness, enjoyment, succour, material > gain and fortitude in the position one occupies in the earthly realm but > she > is also the one who takes back when one tries to hold on to her beauty and > love, it then turns to smoke and lakshmi transforms herself to become > dhumavati, a goddess who represents both suffering and the detcatchment > gained when frustration develops in to the vidhya state of cognition, the > principle of voidness and the bliss one finds when one is immersed in that > state of being, regardless of circumstantial factors that govern most > people's lives... she is the smoke screen that both obfuscates the innate > sense one has of the transcendental knowledge that goes beyond everyday > situations and the shakti that actually blurs the distinction within the > realm of the everyday set of happenings between good and bad, pleasurable > and unwanted that brings you to the state of detachment through which > lakshmi may manifest again... so if she's making you feel sad it might be > for a reason... the other thing is that the mantra you're practicing is a > generic one... it is possible that it hasn't been channeled by a seer and > is > possibly not appropriate for your practice for that reason... if you go to > www.shivashakti.com u should find a more appropriate mantra... if u find > any > mantra in the future be sure you know which tantra it is revealed in... and > whether that tantra is reputable. > good luck, > krishna > > >
Guest guest
Dear Friend, I suggest you don't chant the mantra as you are doing presently. Please chant as under " AUM SHREEM MAHALAKSHMAIY NAMAHA pronouncing of " maiy " as in " my " . Further, you can chant only " OM SHREEM, OM SHREEM " . " OM " is the pranava or shiro mantra (shall we say the lead or head mantra)encapsulating in it Brhama, Vishnu and Maheshwara. " SHREEM " is the Beeja Mantra signifying Godess Mahalakshmi, the one who bestowes wealth and happiness. One last suggestion, after completing chanting any number of times till feel satisfied, before you get up please ask of the unseen power before whom you have surrendered (your ego), to kindly forgive you for any lapses you might have committed in the Mantra Japaa. To draw a comparison from the materialistic world, this is just like the " E & OE " at the end of an invoice or cash bill!. Please try and be happy. Guest guest
I am sure nobody is here with the malicious intent to misguide. The problem is that it is incredibly difficult to write Sanskrit words in way that their pronunciation is unambiguous using english alphabets. regards Aditya On Thu, Feb 19, 2009 at 9:41 PM, jai sp <vedyaj_yaj wrote: > Do not misguide. > The correct pronunciation will be mahalaxmyai. Guest guest
Namaste Krishna: This was a very insightful post. It is perhaps the best explanation I have heard so far. I practiced a certain Lakshmi prayer for a year, and it was relaxing, but I felt like I was not advancing spiritual or materially. I felt like I was Dumavati. Be that as it may, at that period of time, I needed to switch over to another mantra/ deity. I have been practicing the MahaKali Gayatri mantra for a few days as well as the 100 names of MahaKali, and I have to say that I feel a very positive energy, and experience a deep state of meditation that I could not reach before. The great seer selects the mantra to fit the person, and not all mantras fit all people. Thank you for your post, Jai Maa! Shankari Enquire: 'Who am I?' and you will find the answer. Look at a tree: from one seed arises a huge tree; from it comes numerous seeds, each one of which in its turn grows into a tree. No two fruits are alike. Yet it is one life that throbs in every particle of the tree. So, it is the same Atman everywhere. --Sri Anandamayi Ma http://shankarikali.wordpress.com/ --- On Wed, 2/18/09, krishna pillai <krish.pillai wrote: krishna pillai <krish.pillai Re: Lakshmi Mantra Wednesday, February 18, 2009, 9:21 PM Hello Bob,Ok so there are two problems here, well one isn't quite a problem as much as it is the nature of the deity herself... in that lakshmi is a manifestation of the shakti of fullness, enjoyment, succour, material gain and fortitude in the position one occupies in the earthly realm but she is also the one who takes back when one tries to hold on to her beauty and love, it then turns to smoke and lakshmi transforms herself to become dhumavati, a goddess who represents both suffering and the detcatchment gained when frustration develops in to the vidhya state of cognition, the principle of voidness and the bliss one finds when one is immersed in that state of being, regardless of circumstantial factors that govern most people's lives... she is the smoke screen that both obfuscates the innate sense one has of the transcendental knowledge that goes beyond everyday situations and the shakti that actually blurs the distinction within the realm of the everyday set of happenings between good and bad, pleasurable and unwanted that brings you to the state of detachment through which lakshmi may manifest again... so if she's making you feel sad it might be for a reason... the other thing is that the mantra you're practicing is a generic one... it is possible that it hasn't been channeled by a seer and is possibly not appropriate for your practice for that reason... if you go to www.shivashakti. com u should find a more appropriate mantra... if u find any mantra in the future be sure you know which tantra it is revealed in... and whether that tantra is reputable. good luck, krishna
