Guest guest
Hi everyone 1. I find myself thinking more and more frequently of a need to benefit others through economic research, which is in line with my education and professional training. However, I would like to know if it is motivated by a genuine concern for others, or if it comes from ego: how do I recognise the motivation? And will it really make much of a difference if I do end up benefiting others through my actions? 2. My teacher has advised me to do a particular meditation for 108 days. The meditation session is around an hour and a half. However, mid-way between the session, I start feeling extremely fatigued and distracted, and shortly afterwards my legs fall asleep. My teacher has specifically told me to " sit like a rock " , but I sometimes find myself uncontrollably coughing or yawning, or I lose the posture. How do I manage to " sit like a rock " , without causing myself so much pain that I get distracted from the meditation itself? It is a genuine request to all the long term members here, all of you who have felt the proximity of the Mother: please keep me in your prayers so that I may complete my meditation successfully: sloth and distraction are beginning to frighten me... Guest guest
Dear Suneil Shrivastav You have a teacher, you need to go by his advice. The best way is to consult him. Nevertheless, Patanjali says, " Sthira-sukham Aasanam " . The posture you adopt for meditation should be comfortable and you must be able to hold on to the posture for good lengths of time. If the posture causes you discomfort, meditation will not happen. You may avoid holding your limbs stiffly. Hold your limbs in a relaxed manner and assume a posture comfortable to you. One important requirement is to keep your spine straight but not stiff. Sthiram cha ayam sukham cha yat tat sthirasukham; tadeva aasanam = sthirasukhamaasanam (samaasa-padam). Hope this helps.
