Guest guest
Dear Seshmet: On Non-Attachment while "having a life." Your question is a really good one. I believe that the key is not in shunning the world, but in cultivating the spiritual life and qualities, which you are doing. Actually, it is attachment to the spiritual that will drive out the other stuff. If we have colored rocks, we will be reluctant to give them up. But if we are offered diamonds and rubies, we will gladly give the rocks up. So in a way, it is attachment (to the higher spirit) that brings detachment (from the grosser things). In my opinion, at some point there is a tilting point...when the worldly stuff just loses it shine, and just does not "stick" to us the same way. It still exists. The stores and giving and taking do not go away. Nor do we take a suddenl liking to potato sack shirts. When the soul acquires a sort of teflon response to stuff, we can be around it but not so affected by it. Russell Need Mail bonding?Go to the Mail Q&A for great tips from Answers users.
