Guest guest
Dear Carie, And anger is ugly on the surface. But there is room for compassion as well, because, as the Swami implies, at the root of all anger is fear--the terrible fear of losing that which one desires so much. So, anger can not be conquered directly (again, as the Swami implies) until one looks deeper than the surface, to its root, to the fear of loss which is feeding it. Sadhus sometimes do attack anger directly, as though it were a demon one could wrestle with and defeat, when in truth, it, like the rest of us, is just doing its job-given the goals we have consciously or unconsciously chosen. Anger will be with us as long as we have goals which have not been met. And, as one become increasingly focused on a goal, anger becomes increasingly focused as well. If one's goal is to realize God--even to desire God and God alone--then the watchdog of anger turns, intimidatingly, on that crafty one we all know so well. Anger then becomes a guide, like a compass needle, pointing directly at the one who really causes all the commotion--the master of ceremonies himself--that wizzard of Oz--Ahamkara. Respectfully, Tanmaya , " Carie M " <m.cirene wrote: > > " Anger is nothing but an attachment for an object, when expressed towards an > obstacle between ourselves and the object of our attachment.
