Namaste

Tonight Swami touched on one point which really struck my heart. He

spoke about the effect that Shakti, Mother, had on

Male-Discrimination in the story of the Sundarkan. The male principle

was taking a very rigid and harsh course of action. War and ruin were

likely. Discrimination paused to review the situation, and ponder if

there could be a different course of action. As he pondered, his

Mother, suggested a completely different course of action. One which

completely changed the balance of power and brought a new perspective

to the situation.

Swami continued,....Just a fluid soft water, dripping onto rock can

wear it away, or blowing wind can move the Himalayas, so can soft

shakti have a profound effect on the more rigid male psyche. As Swami

said, the shakti, leads the male from behind.

So true. I recalled the countless times my wife had quietly suggested

some course of action contrary to my notion, and lo and behold, she

was right. She, fluid as water, soft as the wind, wears down my rock

hard ego. Yet, sometimes firm committment, the sankalpa of Shiva, is

needed to fulfill a goal or accomplish a task. Then shakti supports

and uplifts as Shiva dances His dance of change.

Shakti and Shiva, the eternal dance. Swirling round and round the

chakra of a balanced relationship. Ultimately both are needed for

successful life.
