Namaste

When I first began studying and practicing Shiva puja for beginners,

Swami told me one thing which has stuck with me for 10 years: when you

call on one God, whether performing worship of Shiva, Durga, etc.,

They all must come. That is the deal. And, ultimately, there is only

One God.

To learn homa, it is helpful to have a good working understanding of

the theory and practice of one of the beginner pujas: Shiva, Durga,

etc, as the basic form of puja is also the basic form and starting

point of homa.

So, if your practice of puja is well established, learning homa will

be easy.

PLease let me know as each of you gets your Hanuman puja books to we

can set a starting date. Also, I need the names of all who wish to be

in the class.

You will need the latest version of the Hanuman puja book.

Jai Maa Jai Swami

Vish,

Hanumanji just came in the mail yesterday. Jai Hanumanji, Ki Jai...

Edward,

ps/...I personally want to say that over the years, I have felt more of a refining quality to my puja practice in such a way that is living with Shiva, daily, brings an inner certainty that all are, and have been present, that seems to come into a clearing, if you will. How I feel very lucky, (Lakshmi), indeed. Moreover, it has been the inner dialog that seems to come all into place, as it were, all on its own! I am counting my "blessings". I look forward to dialoging with Hanumanji, as I have felt that this was something inthe works for me, as an ongoing real time commitment.

Namaste, and falling in Love more...

Namaste Vishweshwarji,

When you state that people need the " latest " version of the book, it

would probably be helpful if you let them know what edition you mean

and/or what year it was published. For example, I bought my Hanuman

Puja book less than 1 yr ago and it is the 4th edition published in

2001. The first edition was published in 1990.

I remember when these were little very soft cover books.

Keep up the great seva!

Jai Maa!

[www.ShreeMaa.org] Re: Worshipping God and learning homa

Learning how to do a homa has been and is a great journey for me. A

few years ago Vishveshwar and I used to sit at the fire together in

his home and make offerings into the fire. Then he moved to be with

Shree Maa and Swamiji in Napa. After that I had to find a place to

do homas. I bought a very small havan from an indian grocery store

and began doing homas on a tiny patio about 4'x6'. I'd open the

windows and let the smoke blow out. Later I bought some bricks and a

gazebo and put it up on a friends patio. Now I live in a home with a

fireplace and do my homas there. I do the Chandi homa by myself at

home. It's been a process of growth and was difficult doing the

Chandi at first. It took me six hours the first time. It was

uncomfortable but I kept at it. Now I can do it in half the time.

I tell everyone this because I think everyone can do this. It's just

a matter of learning a few procedures and then doing it. If you have

any curiosity at all please jump in. Shree Maa and Swamiji are

extremely supportive. Swamiji is our direct teacher. He will help

everyone who has questions. This is an incredible opportunity. Last

month my wife and I were able to fulfill a long standing desire. We

made offerings at the havan at the Devi Mandir. I even did a Chandi

homa there by myself. Great blessings come from worshiping at the

fire. May Divine Mother bless us all with her Grace.

Jai Maa & Jai Swamiji!!

Thanks for sharing something of your experience, Tukaram. I have often

thought it would be nice to make homa a regular part of my practice.

I've only done a few, myself. I imagine it was pretty thrilling to do

your homa at the Mandir!

Namaste Tukaram,

I am glad you set aside your reservations about posting to this group.

It is very inspiring to hear what you have been doing at home and at

the Mandir. Posts like yours make me think that if others manage to

overcome obstacles and pursue their chosen goal with determination,

well, then maybe, with the grace of God and Guru, so can I,

hoping you will post again from time to time,

with love,

Henny

I know what you mean. I feel very self-conscious whenever I do

anything " spiritual " when there are other people about. You get past

it quickly, but it is uncomfortable at first.

I wonder what Swamiji was doing? Was he coming in to see how your

practice was progressing, or perhaps he just loves to see the Chandi

chanted at the fire?

This is a really great quote :"One could say it's a lot of work but it's really a lot of worship."thanks Tukaram :)tukaram108 <tukaram108 wrote: Namaste Henny, You can do it. You just have to decide you're going to collect what you need. Learn how to make the masala (samagri) for offering into the fire. You need some ghee every time, flowers, incense, a lamp, etc. Then learn the procedures. They're not difficult. You just have to do these things and begin. It was

recommended to me to do 100 Chandi homas. My heart almost stopped. But I happened to be living in a place where I had the space to set things up and I couldn't think of why I wouldn't want to do this. So I started. I gave myself 10 months to complete them because I was thinking of moving. I had to do about 2or 3 Chandis per week. I ended up doing 108. I just organized my life so I could do this. I did all my own shopping, setup and cleanup. It was a lot of time well spent. One could say it's a lot of work but it's really a lot of worship. Write out on a piece of paper what you need, collect it and begin. Soon you will look back and say, "I've completed 100 Chandi homas and now I want to do 1000 Chandis." I do..... , "henny_v_i" <henny_v_i wrote: > > Namaste Tukaram, >
