Guest guest
Beloved Swamiji, Namaste and Pranams! Yesterday we landed in Varanasi with God's grace. Varanasi is the city of Temples. As we drove through the city to our friend's house, we were very happy to be in Temple town. In the evening, we went to Ganges and I had my first darshan of Mother Ganga. She was beautiful, cool and calm. Our friend took us on a boat ride and the boatman gave us a tour of all the ghats. Each ghat (bank) is named after a king or sage. Lots of stories. We turned back in time for Evening Arati of Ganga Mata. Very beautiful. We watched from the boat! Maa had asked us to offer a few diyas to Mother Ganga. We went for 108 which we gently placed on the rivere and watched them float away. After Arati, our friend took us to Kashi Viswanath temple through a series of narrow gulleys. Hara Hara Mahadev! The atmosphere was charged with devotees clanging bells, beating drums, amidst chants in praise of the Lord. After His Darshan, we went to Mother Annapurna Temple. We had the privilege of being in the inner sanctorum. May She bless us with pure devotion! I asked Her to remove all unholy desires and bless me with pure wisdom! We then sat down near the door and chanted the Chandi Path. We started at 9; even till 10:30 devotees kept coming and kept ringing the bells. The devotion was visible. The pujaris kept calling out, " Maa, Maa " again and again. On the way back home we walked the narrow gullys again and enjoyed hearing passing devotees chanting Lord Shiva's name. WE bowed down to all the Go Matas (cows). with love and prayers, srini

For those of us who have never been to Varanasi it feels like we are there with you in spirit and share some of the blessings that Kashi Vishawanath and Mata Annapurna are showering on you.
