Guest guest
Beloved Family, How are you all? It is wonderful to be part of the Chandi Sankalpa and hear about it from all of you - feels like we are all together in every corner! Saturday is a special day for Hanuman. In Devi Mandir, we have Hanuman Puja on this day. My mother makes a maala of " vadaas " for Hanuman on saturdays. Vadaas are a salty snack that look a little like donuts - She strings them together and we offer in the Temple. The priest puts it around the neck of the Lord and Granter of Pure Devotion! This is a south Indian tradition. This saturday i saw her making a garland of Betal Leaves. We bought 108 Betal Leaves and she was stringing them together 4 at a time -- and they looked so pretty! I asked her why does Hanuman like these? Why do you do this? She said that there is a story that when Hanuman went to see Mother Sita, Sita could not offer proper betal leaves with filling to Him as She was just sitting under a tree. She just plucked some betal leaves and gave Hanuman. Remembering Sita and Hanuman - we offer Him a betal leaf garland! This saturday was also a special day for Krishna here as it was the Rohini Star and as Gauri wrote - it was Chathurthi - Special day for our most beloved Lord Ganesh!!! Isn't it great that we have so many excuses to pray to so many forms of God on any (and every) day! Of course, we can be like Swamiji and pray to all forms in the Cosmic Puja everyday -- No Excuses Needed! :) with love and gratitude to all brothers and sisters, rami
