Guest guest
Then the Mother of the Universe became very angry with those attackers, and Her face turned dark with rage. The eyebrows were scowling, and from Her frowning forehead appeared the Remover of Darkness with a terribly frightening face, who was holding a sword and a net in her hands. ....Her mouth was immense, and She brandished her tongue as a sword which caused great fear. Her eyes were penetrating and somewhat red, and Her fearful roar was humming in all directions. The Remover of Darkness killed many great thoughts and after destroying an army of thoughts in great haste, She began to eat them all. She picked up elephants with one hand and put them into Her mouth together with their protectors, the driver with his goad, soldiers and bells. In the same way She took warriors, horses, chariots with their charioteers, the entire cavalry of thoughts, and put them into Her mouth and hideously began to chew. Chandi Path, 7:5,6, 8-11 Swami Satyananda Saraswati That's one of my all time favorite sections! Later, at the end of chapter eight, it says, " The multitude of Mothers, delighted from the drink of his blood, danced vigorously with joy " Why do you think drinking the blood of Raktabija delighted them and caused them to dance with joy? The recitation went really quickly tonight, didn't it? Unfortunately for me, I got these really painful charley-horses, successively in both my legs, so I had to break asana (It just happens sometimes when I don't drink enough water). But even charley-horses couldn't keep me from enjoying the joyous spectacle of Kali and Her hideous jaws! Tomorrow:(Day Six) More asura blood as Shumba and Nishumba get theirs! Kushandika and Chapters Nine and Ten. Jai Maa! Chris
