Guest guest
hamsayukta vimanasthe bramani rupa dharini | kaushambhahksharike devi narayani namo-stute || Wearing the form of Creative Energy, sitting upon the carrier yoked to the swans of vital breath, sprinkling water with the sanctity of kusha grass, Oh Goddess, Exposer of Consciousness, we bow to you. Chandi Path 11:13 Swami Satyananda I haven't chanted this part of the Chandi for a long time. I'd forgotten about Chapter 11. When I started it I stumbled over the strange twenty-two syllable verses, and resigned myself to plodding my way through, one by one. When I saw the verse structure change, and felt the way the old familiar anushtup rolled off my tongue, I felt great relief. I thought, " Whew! Glad that's over! " But it wasn't until after the second verse of anushtup I suddenly realized just what it was I was reading, and I was overjoyed with the recognition. Always before, I had chanted these verses just as I chanted everything else - perhaps with a bit more feeling, but essentially without a melody. I had always wanted to sing these verses, they always seemed to fairly cry-out to be sung, but I didn't know the melody until I was able to watch the evening programs streamed from the Devi Mandir. So for the first time I was able to sing these verses, and it really was a pleasure! [i have to say I still don't think I have the melody completely right, but I'm sure Mother will forgive that, She forgives me my voice, after all] Tomorrow (Day Eight): Kushandika (Devata Pranam), shapoddhara, utkilana, mritasamjivani, and shapavimochana mantras, Navarna Vidhih through Murti Rahasya [i like chanting the rahasyas!] One day left after this one... Jai Maa! Chris
