Namaste: How many of you have performed the fire ceremony? We are

very interested in hearing your experiences and helping in any way

possible with questions or issues arising from fire ceremony.

In all, Swami has performed the 3 year fire ceremony 4 times, for a

total of 12 years. His mastery of the fire ceremony is sublime. We

hope to hear from you

Hi Vish,

As I write this my old water heater is sitting in the alley waiting to

be picked-up, and the new one still needs a part before going in. But

when I'm finally finished with it, Edward and I will be joining you at

the holy fire (there is really only one fire, after all).

Perhaps we'll see you there!

I just thought of a question: Swamiji said that traditionally we offer

five items, water, incense, grain, flowers, and fruit. Now the fruit,

I assume, is offered during purnahuti, is that correct? Swamiji said

he uses coconuts, but any kind of fruit is alright, isn't it? Since

the purnahuti is the final step in the homa, I assume one must ensure

the fire is still strong enough to completely devour the fruit, and

that one should not put out the fire until the offering is gone. What

does one do if one doesn't have an extra thirty minutes (or maybe

longer) to feed and watch the fire until the fruit offering is gone?

Are my assumptions off somehow?

Jai Maa!

Chris
